• Designate OSC and mobile facilities using information of vessels:• Position and intended route• ETA to vessel of distress• Capabilities of vessels

• Coordinate operation:• Send search patterns/update search patterns directly to the vessels navigation display• Send search sectors/update search sectors directly to the vessels navigation display• Send positions and datum as AIS ATONS• Perform enhanced monitoring of search vessel monitoring the AIS/Radar target together

Careful introduction of new technology

• In order to understand the possibilities provided by the services within the STM we must study how “todays SAR operation” looks like.

• The identical Baseline exercises were conducted both at sea and in the simulated environment whit the objective of creating an as realistic understanding of a SAR operation as possible

• The tests will use existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), navigation systems and information support systems ashore and on-board for organizations and units involved

• Test new operating procedures and principles in order to be able to suggest changes to todays manual for SAR
