Why do pallets break? Very often it isbecause the wood splits at a fastening point.Senco Products, Inc., points out that stapledpallets may be used for a longer period of timebecause the two slimmer shanks of the staplesdo not stress the wood grain as much as nails. It is also possible to repair pallets with splitends by using staples, the company says.

J SEABEE. THE ADVANTAGES~ARE AS BIG AS THE SYSTEM.
The SEABEE system is a result of the Lykesconcept that cargo should be kept in motionfrom the moment it leaves its point of origin toits final destination. And it should moverapidly, economically and safely.SpeedThe three SEABEE ocean carriers are each875’ in length and have a cruising speed of20 knots. This enables them to transit, forexample, New Orleans to Rotterdam in12 days.
ReachIf an inland river port in the U.S. or NorthernFurope can be reached by barge, then it
becomes a seaport for SEABEE. In fact, thereare a total of seventeen major points in theU.S. and North Europe.which can be served bythe SEABEE barge system. Add to this theintermodal and mini-bridge systems of rail andtruck or containers, and virtually any place is apoint of origin or destination for SEABEE.VersatilityNo ocean transportation system can matchthe cargo-carrying versatility of LykesSEABEE. Three types of barges: standard
hopper, flat deck and refrigerator are a part ofthe system today. The flat deck is particularlysuited to heavy lifts and oversizes, having adeck capacity of 8000 pounds per squarefoot. The reefer barges regularly keep citrusfruit in field-fresh condition from the U.S.Gulf to Europe. And the spacious deck of thecarrier will accept over-sizes, heavy lifts andpre-fabs impossible to ship before SEABEE.
