As we draw to the end of another administrative year, your membership in the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association has never been more important or more appreciated. TMBA has just completed another highly successful Loan Servicing Conference. This conference and the Southwest Secondary Conference continue to bring new ideas and updates to our members at a time when our business is increasingly difficult. Regulators and legislators, however well intentioned, seem more determined than ever to enact new laws or create new guidelines that have the potential to make business more difficult, limit the availability of competitive financing or add unexpected costs to consumers. As we head toward the convention in May, TMBA continues to focus on both the origination and servicing issues facing our industry. Thanks to the wisdom and leadership of Larry Temple, with the support of the Government Affairs Committee, we have drafted and promoted key licensing legislation that will bring Texas in line with national requirements, while best protecting the interests of our members. Countless other bills have been monitored, and Larry has worked with legislators and other trade organizations offering suggestions for compromise and pertinent testimony promoting our interests on many issues. Many issues are unresolved, and we have a long way to go before the session ends. Your support and vigilance continue to be needed. Your membership and your support, particularly your participation on the committees that do the real work of our organization, along with your contributions to the TMBA PAC, make everything we do possible. Serving as your president has been an honor and a privilege, and I have a new appreciation for the coordinated efforts and hard work that go into all our endeavors. This vantage has given me an up close and personal exposure to the gifts of time and talent so many of you give to our organization, and I have never been more proud to be a Texas Mortgage Banker. I am looking forward to seeing each and every one of you in May at the Hyatt Lost Pines. Thanks for a truly rewarding year. TMBA has just completed another highly successful Loan Servicing Conference. 2009-2010 Committee

Members

As a member of TMBA, you have an opportunity to participate actively by serving on a committee or recommending committee members for the 2009-2010 leadership year.

COMMITTEE PARTICIPATION

Serving on a TMBA Committee is a way the mortgage professional can participate in a leadership role in the real estate finance industry as a whole. Such leadership provides an opportunity to target trends and issues relevant to the mortgage industry with other committee members who are per-competitors. It also provides an opportunity for creative problem solving, as well as professional enrichment. Each committee of the TMBA shall include members whose term of appointment will be for one year, beginning June 1, 2009, and may be re-appointed for a maximum of three consecutive years. Committee members are selected through recommendation by TMBA general membership and final appointments are made by the President with input from the respective committee chairperson. Efforts are made to provide a balance representative of the membership diversity.

{Committees represent, involve and serve members. They provide a training ground for future leaders through group problem solving and as a forum through which to discuss/debate association interests. A committee is most effective when its mission is clearly defined; it has appropriately strong leadership and competent staffing. Committee members are asked to demonstrate support of the programs and services of TMBA, to take an advocacy position in promoting membership and by participating in Association programs /meetings, as well as government relations initiatives. Committee members are expected to support programs emanating from their committee at their expense.

HOW TO RESPOND

After reviewing the guidelines, committee participation and responsibility information and the description of each committee purpose, please make your recommendations on the TMBA COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS 2009-2010 form and return it to the TMBA office no later than May 1st.

Recommendations and questions can also be directed to TMBA staff by replying to this email.

The Texas Mortgage Bankers Association is taking a

significantly large role in working with our regulators and all

mortgage lenders to ensure the continued strength of our

residential real estate markets. We plan to assume the lead in

providing lenders with their pre-licensing education requirements

under the SAFE Mortgage Licensing Act signed into law this year.

TMBA is also working to developing and providing approved

several other licensing programs in the near future.

As the third largest mortgage lending association in the

nation, we are in the best position to manage this endeavor.

Our members originate more than $35 billion annually and our

membership represents those who promote fair and ethical

lending practices.

Visit the www.texasmba.org [licensing section] or

www.texasmortgagelicensing.org for information and updates they

become available.

TX Licensing TMBA’s current efforts in providing an approved licensing program – stay tuned!
