LEAP Texas Signature Assignment Institutes –Summer 2017Jeanne Tunks, LEAP Texas Fellow Project
What Is It?
The institute is a vehicle for bringing about change in
signature assignment development related to the Texas Core Objective Social
Responsibility.
How does it work?
Faculty members:
Create and submit a signature assignment for social responsibility by May 20, 2017
Read other faculty members’ signature assignment
Attend a two-day session in one of three places
Change assignment based on team feedback
Implement assignment in Fall 2017
Provide student artifacts from assignment
Receive payment of $200 for summer institute
Receive payment of $200 for data and signature assignment upload to LEAP Texas website
Who can participate?
Any faculty member of any rank who teaches in a community college or 4 year institution in Texas
Important qualifications:
Serve as instructor of record Fall 2017
Acquire permission, either IRB or institutional approval to collect student artifacts
Assure SAI leadership that you have the freedom to create new assignments for Core courses

June 22-23 – Willis Library, UNT Campus, Denton, Texas
June 26-27 - Hampton Inn, Houston International Airport
June 28-29 – Hilton Garden Inn, San Antonio Airport
