Come join us as we escape the cold, snowy Iowa winter & motor coach to South Texas to soak in some Texas Sun & Fun. Including 3 days & nights on South Padre Island where we’ll have a waterfront hotel. Plus 3 nights in San Antonio where our lodging will be right on the San Antonio Riverwalk. And we’ll take in all sorts of adventures as we travel along the way… A whole new fun & adventurous tour! Day 1, Sun. Feb.13.…..(D) Leave the cold winter days behind us as we travel south to Joplin, Mo., for our overnight lodging. Enjoy a ‘Hotel Happy Hour’ tonight. Day 2, Mon. Feb. 14... (B) We journey southward through Oklahoma. We’ll stop in Hugo, Okla., which was once referred to as ‘Circus City, USA’. Today it is the final resting place of many of the traveling circus performers. Visit a unique cemetery where you’ll see some of the beautiful etchings & carvings on these stones…. Our journey then continues into the great state of Texas, making Tyler, Texas our home for the night. Day 3, Tues. Feb. 15... (B) Today we travel to College Station, Texas where we’ll visit the George Bush Sr. Presidential Library & Museum. Sworn in as our 41st president, this museum & library opened in 1997.… After visiting the Presidential Museum we’ll travel onto Schulenburg, Texas for our overnight lodging. Day 4, Wed. Feb. 16.…. (B) Today we make our way as far south as you can go & still be in Texas. The beautiful South Padre Island will be our home for the next 3 nights. Our hotel is located on the waterfront, so you’ll get plenty of chances to dip your toes in the sand & sea. Day 5, Thurs. Feb. 17.… (B, L, D) This morning we’ll take a cruise aboard the double-decker cruise boat, Murphy’s Law. We’ll enjoy a 4 hour narrated cruise from South Padre Island to the port of Brownsville. Along the way you’ll see vessels loading & unloading cargo, decommissioned vessels being dismantled, oil rigs being built & repaired. After lunch in South Padre Island we’ll have a tour of the South Padre Island Birding & Nature Center, one of the Rio Grande Valley’s premier destinations for bird watching. After some free time back at the hotel to soak up some more sun, dinner tonight will be at one of the local’s favorites. Day 6, Fri. Feb. 18.….. (B) We’ll start the day out with a Dolphin Watch Tour where we’ll share the waters with the world’s most playful sea mammal. This narrated cruise will also give you information on other diverse marine life that lives within the waters surrounding South Padre Island…. This afternoon we’ll visit a Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center. Here you’ll learn where their main mission is to rehabilitate injured sea turtles, educate the public & lead with conservation efforts. A truly memorable visit…. Later this afternoon you’ll be in for a fun surprise that will bring the kid out in all of us! Guaranteed for lots of fun & laughter!! Day 7, Sat. Feb. 19.… (B, D) We leave the beautiful Gulf Coast & travel to historic San Antonio. Along the way we’ll have a brief stop in Harlington, Texas where we’ll visit the Iwo Jima Memorial & Museum. This monument is the original working model used by a sculptor in his bronze casting of the official version in Washington DC. The museum tells of the story of the Battle of Iwo Jima…….. Then it’s onto San Antonio. After arriving late afternoon you’ll have free time the rest of the day to explore the Riverwalk area. Our hotel for the next 3 nights is located right along the Riverwalk. ‘Happy Hour’ at the hotel. Day 8, Sun. Feb. 20.… (B, D) Today will be a day filled with San Antonio fun! We start the day off with a Rio San Antonio cruise along the Riverwalk area. Then we’ll enjoy an IMAX Movie entitled “Alamo, the Price of Freedom”, followed by an audio guided tour of the Alamo site. The rest of the afternoon & evening will once again be free time for you to enjoy more of the Riverwalk festivities. Day 9, Mon. Feb. 21.…. (B, D) Today we’ll be joined by a step-on guide that will show us the highlights of the San Antonio area away from the Riverwalk. Some of the places we’ll be visiting include the Missions. Here you’ll hear the stories of the people who came into the Spanish Missions to live in the 1700’s. San Fernando Cathedral is a historic landmark of San Antonio. The Cathedral has always been known as the ‘center of San Antonio’. Founded in 1731 this church is the oldest standing church building in Texas & has been serving its congregations for more than 281 years. Another stop along the way on our guided

tour of San Antonio will be at the historic Market Square, where you’re bound to find a souvenir or two. Market Square is the largest Mexican Market in the United States. We’ll once again arrive back at our Riverwalk hotel late afternoon so you’ll have one last chance to enjoy the evening colors & music on the waterfront.

(page 3) Day 10, Tues. Feb. 22.… (B) Today we bid farewell to San Antonio as we travel to Waco, Texas. Here you’ll enjoy the Magnolia Market at the Silos, home of Chip & Joanna Gaines-as seen on the HGTV show “Fixer Upper“. Have lunch at one of the many scrumptious food trucks. After lunch we’ll host a step-on guide that will show us the sights of the Waco area. Included in on the tour will be some of Chip & Joanna Gaines’ ‘fixer-uppers’, Harp Designs & lots more! We might even throw in a coffee or ice cream stop! You’ll have free time after the tour to shop the Silo District. For dinner tonight we’ll take in some real Texas BBQ. Lodging tonight in Waco. Day 11, Wed. Feb. 23.… (B, D) We leave Waco this morning with Dallas/Ft. Worth as our next destination point. The Ft. Worth Stockyards are a ‘must-stop’ when visiting Ft. Worth. You’ll have free time to explore the Stockyards area & take in the ever-famous Long Horn Cattle Drive. …. Next stop; Texas Motor Speedway! Ladies & Gentleman, start your engines! With the speedway schedule allowing we’ll have a guided tour of the facility & you’ll even get a chance to take a lap around the track. Lodging tonight in Frisco, Texas, just outside of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, where you’ll enjoy another ‘Hotel Happy Hour.’ Day 12, Thurs. Feb. 24.… (B, D) We bid farewell to Texas this morning & trek into Oklahoma. Today we’ll visit the Oklahoma National Memorial & Museum in Oklahoma City. A memorial & museum that honors the victims, survivors & rescuers of the Oklahoma City bombing that occurred on April 19, 1995. You, I’m sure, will find this a very touching experience when you visit here…. We then travel onto Joplin, Mo. for our last night’s lodging. Day 13, Fri. Feb. 25.….. (B) They say all good things must come to an end & today we’ll say our goodbyes to our new-found friends, all-the-while taking with us some treasured memories of the great state of Texas & beyond.
