“Co-ops: Providing the Mechanismto Move Agriculture”

YOUR INVITATION TO ATTEND...

We cordially invite you to join with one another March 15-17, 2020 at theWoodlands Resort, a new location, in The Woodlands, Texas. The topics, speakers, information and format will allow you and your family anopportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge, while also allowing for plenty oftime for relaxation. We look forward to hosting this meeting in a brand-new location! Bring theentire family to enjoy five pools, a lazy river and water park, 36 holes ofaward-winning golf, with 1,000 acres of shopping, restaurants, andentertainment nearby. The Woodlands Resort is just 40 miles from theHouston Livestock Show and Rodeo (March 3-22, 2020) AND you don’t haveto drive in Houston traffic. This year’s theme, “Co-ops: Providing the Mechanism to MoveAgriculture,” captures how cooperatives restore a profit and a confidence inagriculture! The very nature of the co-op business structure---farmer-owned, farmer-directed, a shared-recipient of margins---gives members apowerful advantage in a risky sector of the economy. Keynotes include a well-known advocate for farmers, a noted ag economist, and a high-flying Navy Seal with expertise in leadership in high-risk, high-consequence environments. Breakout sessions cover labor, legal, and taxissues facing co-ops, and a debut of TACC’s results from our 2019Compensation Study. We encourage you to make plans to come to The Woodlands to rechargeyour batteries, ask the tough questions, and participate in the celebration! Please take time to review the enclosed materials, talk to your friends, thenregister to be a part of the attractions, the momentum, and the success of themeeting. BREAKOUT SESSIONS

One breakout is always reserved for the most high-profile regulatory agenciesimpacting farmers and cooperatives. This year, this session will include informationon new rules regarding migrant housing at gins and elevators. In addition, findingand keeping good labor, especially during trying times, is an on-going challenge. We’ll have an H2A/guestworker expert to discuss properly securing foreign laborfrom numerous countries and guide you in all the requirements and compliancepaperwork.

One session will be dedicated to this state’s premier co-op attorney, Gary McLaren. He will discuss case examples of legal proceedings – all in an effort to better co-opdirectors, CEOs, and the firm itself. Come share legal concerns that have beenkeeping you up at night --- he is FREE to participants during the meeting and will beavailable to answer questions privately.

About every five years, TACC conducts a statewide compensation study thatreceives wide attention not only from cooperative directors but also from manysectors of agribusiness. Although TACC conducted the study, co-op CPA GregTaylor tabulated and analyzed the results. He will distribute and talk about hisfindings during this session as well as update the group on some IRS challenges anda few unusual audit cases making news.

This year, at the Joint Cooperative Meeting, (March 15-17, 2020) our aim is to haveanother fun, interesting, and exciting auction with lots of variety, but we need YOURcontributions! While your co-op is able to donate an item to the silent auction, PERSONALDONATIONS are strongly preferred for Texas Ethics Commission compliancepurposes. (You may also donate cash and ask TACC to purchase the items for you!) Let us know if you would like to donate by FEBRUARY 14, 2020.
