Body Composition: Submaximal aerobic

exercise test: Palpation: Auscultation: Baroreceptors: Antecubital space: Maximal graded exercise

test: Training heart-rate range: Physical working capacity: Hydrostatic weighing: Residual volume:

Bioelectrical impedance: Body mass index (BMI): Anthropometric assessments: Waist-to-hip circumference ratio

(WHR): Informed Consent: Hernia Fat free mass Angina Overweight: an upward

deviation in body weight based on the subjects height. 20% or more above ideal weight

Overfat: excess amount of body fat

Body Composition: the makeup of the body in terms of the relative percentage of fat free mass and body mass

Submaximal aerobic exercise test: a cardiorespiratory fitness test designed so that the intensity does not exceed 85% of heart rate reserve or maximal oxygen uptake

Palpation: the use of hands to detect anatomical structures Auscultation: using a stethoscope to listen to sounds of the body Baroreceptors: a sensory nerve ending that is stimulated by changes in

pressure Antecubital space: space in the front part of the elbow Maximal graded exercise test: GXT: a treadmill or bike test that measures or

estimates maximum aerobic capacity Training heart-rate range: target heart rate represented as a range of numbers Physical working capacity: the max amount of physical work that can be

attained by an individual Hydrostatic weighing: an underwater test used to measure body fat and lean

body mass % Residual volume: the volume of air left in the lungs after complete expiration

Bioelectrical impedance: method of determining body composition by measuring the body’s resistance to electrical flow

Body mass index (BMI):relative measure of body height to body weight to determine obesity

Anthropometric assessments: measurement and analysis of parts of the human body

Waist-to-hip circumference ratio (WHR):measure for determining health risk due to the site of fat storage

Informed Consent: voluntary acknowledgement of the purpose, procedures and specific risks

Hernia: protrusion of abdominal wall into the groin area Fat free mass: part of the body composition that represents everything but fat Angina: chest pain Overweight: an upward deviation in body weight based on the subjects height.

20% or more above ideal weight Overfat: excess amount of body fat
