1. Under INTRODUCTION section there will be 5sub-sections:1.1 PURPOSE: In this section, the QA Management mentions

broadly what this document is used for.1.2 OBJECTIVES: Under this section, 2 specific things are

mentioned:

a. validation of the system functionalities according tothe PRODUCTS BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS

DOCUMENT andb. the DEFECTS IDENTIFICATION VISIBLE TO THEEND LEVEL USER.

1.3 REFERENCES: In this section, the QA Management mentionsthe location(s) of the documents used for the Test Plan.

1.4 SYSTEM OVERVIEW: In this section, the superficial (literary)idea over the whole product is provided.

1.5 SUMMARY: In this section, more technical idea over the wholeproduct is provided.

From this section, the actual test (test execution) of the product isstarted. This section provides high-level descriptions offunctions and features available in the product. There are 2

sub-sections under this section:2.1 TEST FOCUS AREA: In this section, the areas that are

needed to be focused for testing are foretold.

2.1 FUNCTIONS NOT TO BE TESTED: In this section, the areasthat are NOT needed to be tested are foretold. In the real

world scenario, it is seen that at the end level of the SDLC NOTHING is mentioned under this section. i.e. all thefunctions are eligible for facing the STLC.

This section describes the general testing approach that is used totest the major set of features of the product. There are 6 sub-sections under this section:

3.1 TEST STRATEGY: The test strategy consists of a series ofdifferent tests that will fully exercise the product.

3.2 TEST ENTRY AND EXIT CRITERIA: In this section, thementioned matrix illustrates Test Entry and Exit criteria atdifferent test levels. Here, both the Entry and Exit criteria

are given.

This section forecasts the risk (peril) and dependency(enslavement) areas within the product.

Matrix reports defect and testing issues arising prior to release of

product versions to production. These matrixes will be derivedlargely from QA Resources and will be included in periodic statusreports as well as the Final Test Report.

Examples:

application release.
