Welcome to the TESCO kids club magazine. Lisa and her team have done a great job of taking some great pictures; and we have the job of presenting them to you. From all of us at ConnectedDay we hope you enjoy it.

The Busy Bees team at the TESCO kids club creche really enjoy their work and have also been very busy raising money for good causes such as the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Please do your best to support them.

We are busy working away at improving the ConnectedDay service so please keep you feedback coming as we really value your feedback.

The ConnectedDay Team

Tesco Kids Club Glasgow has been opened since 2001 and since then we have seen many children come through our doors.

Our service provides fun and stimulating activities for children aged 2 to 8 for a maximum period of 2 hours. Naturally the creche has a number of policies and procedures in place to ensure the safety and welfare of all children that use the facility. The creche is Care Commission registered and has to work to the guidelines that they set. Ever since the creche has opened, the creche has passed every inspection with flying colours and copies of the latest inspection can be found in the creche or online on the Care Commission website.

The creche is managed by Busy Bees and we have won the Busy Bee title of Creche of the Year for the past 3 years! This is due to our excellent Care Com-mission reports helped by many parents leaving us positive comments in our comments book. Of course, it also helps to have a great team who work well together and are never too busy to help each other.

During the week we plan activities using Birth to Three and Curriculum for Ex-cellence, these run throughout the week during the playgroup session which runs from 9.30 to 2.30 during term time. At the weekends and during the holi-days we also plan activities for the children. These are available for all children throughout the day. When planning activities, the staff make sure that they can be adapted to meet the needs of all children while encouraging the children to have fun and explore. This all helps with their overall development and learn-ing.

This magazine will let you see what we’ve been up to this year since we re-opened after the refurbishments. Lots of activities such as visits by the children to our local Fire Brigade. We’ve tried to bring you a flavour of the fun we have. Do let us know if you wish to see more news like this. Your feedback is always welcomed.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the staff have lots of fun together supporting a num-ber of charities. Our next event is to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and for that we are abseiling down the Forth Rail Bridge! Yes, we are all very excited about that and of course just a wee bit ‘scared’!

ConnectedDay

this is how it works...

inVOLVinG AnD enGAGinGConnectedDay enables easy communication between parents and childcare providers. The key benefit is private and safe picture & video sharing that allows parents an insight into the day to day activities of their child. This creates a richer child-parent interaction and also a closer childcare centre to parent involvement. All in a fun and very approachable way.

This directly supports both EYFS and Curriculum for Excellence.

seCuReThe ConnectedDay service is only available by invitation from your childcare provider. All pictures are private and never available on the open Internet. You allow the childcare provider to invite you by giving them your email address & mobile phone number. They can then share a folder of pictures with you. This triggers the service to send you a text to your mobile phone that contains your unique PIN/password that you can use to access

and view the shared pictures. That’s it - just enjoy the view into your child’s day and let them tell you all about it!

eAsYConnectedDay is very easy to use: no need to download anything it works with any Internet browser

Just go to www.connectedday.com

and sign in!

The child care staff takes pictures & videos of the memorable moments, everyday events or when ever they see the need to capture evidence of a child’s development for their personal diary.

Every picture & video clip is saved securely & automatically over the-air to the childcare provider’s private account on the ConnectedDay server. This is because our unique application works continuously inside the special ConnectedDay camera phone 24 x 7!

Once or twice a week an authorised member of staff accesses the private account to check all the pictures & videos. They can then delete the out of focus and inappropriate pictures, but more importantly he/she has the opportunity to add comments to the pictures such as “This is Jonnie playing in the sandpit” before sharing a picture folder with parents or a child’s key-person.

Parents receive a text message on their registered mobile phone alerting them that new pictures or videos can be seen.

The text also includes a reminder of your unique PIN/password. You can then log-on where-ever and when-ever to view & enjoy those memories that could so easily be lost for ever!

You also get the chance to add your own comments such as “Its nice to see him wearing his new sun hat “.

Heather’s?

This was us making sure that we had everything we needed before we got

busy!

The four bulbs over a period of 15 weeks grew into 4 beautiful flowers!

We had to empty out a cupboard to put our bulbs safely in and to keep in

the dark.

We had a mixture of colours so we could watch them grow!!

Each week the children would look and see how the flowers were grow-ing and if they needed any water.

As the flowers grew so tall, we had to give them a little bit of assistance to stay in an upright position. Very nice

colour of purple and white!!

Look out for our sign - this is our primary meet-ing point where you can meet us.

Safely inside we wait until the Fire Marshall tells us it is safe to return to the building. Because we have priority we will return to the store be-fore any customers and we immeadiately re-

turn to the creche.

We then carefully cross over the zebra crossing and walk up the pavement to the first trolley bay

on the left.

When the alarm goes off we leave via the fire exit door in the creche and we then walk over to the zebra crossing keeping all the children

safe.

teamwork!

The ladies had to earn marshmallows and spaghetti to create a tower - i said

earn not eat!!

The winner is....Tower 1........... or Tower 2?

They could create their own design and the tallest tower would win them a prize!!

By the end of the time limit they

had to let go and the tower had to stand by itself - I

said let go!
