Monthly Promotions At WL1 & Increased Robustness Of IJP In line with your feedback from WMTY, and as part of our commitment to improve trust, transparency and fairness, we will be making some changes to the way we promote colleagues at WL1 and encourage movement through IJP.

These changes will be effective immediately in Non-Technology and over the next few months in Technology as we work to align to the new Technology Career Framework model that Edmond unveiled last week.

Page 2

Page 3: Tesco Bengaluru Corporate e-zine February Edition, 2016 · o Simplified criteria for promotion nomination o Governance at a functional PMG level • Internal Job Postings (IJP) o

Key highlights of these changes are outlined below:

• WL1 Promotions Through Panel o Will be undertaken on a monthly basis o Simplified criteria for promotion nomination o Governance at a functional PMG level

• Internal Job Postings (IJP) o Clearer description of the role requirements for each IJP vacancy o Strengthening of the interview/selection process to ensure its more consistent, fair, robust and

balanced between technical and behavioral assessment o Ensuring relevant and appropriate feedback is provided to all interviewed colleagues, thus

increasing transparency of decision-making • Lateral Pay increments for Lead/Senior WL1 moves in Non-Technology functions

o To encourage lateral movement and the broadening of experience for our colleagues in Senior WL1 roles in Non-Technology functions (i.e. Leads), we are introducing a pay increment for colleagues who move laterally through an IJP or a planned career move

o For more details, please refer to the Guidelines for Lateral Moves on the Hub.

Impact and Your Support This is a progressive change and helps to bring us in-line with market best practice, whilst giving colleagues a fairer and quicker opportunity to progress and develop their careers with Tesco Bengaluru. I look forward to your support to facilitate these changes effectively and would encourage you to discuss with your Line Manager or People Business Partners should you have any questions.

Coffee With Sanjeev

- Alysia D'Souza, People

The Leadership and People Business Partner team of Property Services conceptualised and hosted the first "Coffee with Sanjeev'' event. The objective of introducing this programme is to foster a culture of inclusiveness and transparency by offering a medium for colleagues to have a direct discussion with Sanjeev Nagwekar, Director of Property Services.

For the first edition of this initiative held at the DTP campus, we invited women colleagues with tenures ranging between 3 to 5 years. Sanjeev opened the discussion by establishing the context and had colleagues introduce themselves.

The first question (as anticipated) was based on the much-awaited movement of the team back to the Main Campus. Sanjeev informed the group that the movement is likely to take place in the last week of March and that Archana Iyer, Programme Manager - CEO's Office, will take colleagues through the new Ways of Working at the refurbished workplace.

Sanjeev spoke with colleagues about their experiences of working with different stakeholders. He addressed the concern of the expected increase in workload in the year that is likely to arise from the expansion of stores and discussed ways to manage the change smoothly.

Another topic that was discussed was about the unavailability of direct shuttles between the DTP and NRE campuses which affects colleagues who have enrolled their children at the We-Care crèche at NRE. Sanjeev assured the team that he will look into this immediately along with the People Business Partner team and have separate shuttles arranged between the DTP & NRE campuses scheduled across three different timings.

Page 10

Page 11: Tesco Bengaluru Corporate e-zine February Edition, 2016 · o Simplified criteria for promotion nomination o Governance at a functional PMG level • Internal Job Postings (IJP) o

Lastly, Sanjeev delved into understanding the group's perception of Tesco Bengaluru being a great place to work. The group unanimously agreed that Tesco Bengaluru is indeed a great place to work with, comprehensive benefits, fantastic facilities and sufficient scope for maintaining a work-life balance. While colleagues said that they would recommend Tesco Bengaluru to their peers and friends, they also felt that the compensation could be better. Sanjeev took note of this point and said he would look into this with the People Business Partner team to understand why this perception exists and how the gap could be bridged, if any.

Sharing positive feedback post the event, Sweta Chandrashekhar, Retail Planner said, "Coffee with Sanjeev provides a platform for a direct interaction with Sanjeev and helps us know more about the growth opportunities at Tesco Bengaluru. I am glad that our doubts with regard to compensation were also cleared. Overall, it was a great experience and I hope to see this forum being hosted consistently."

Madhuri Dindwar, Senior Retail Planner said, "This was a great opportunity to meet Sanjeev in person and interact with him directly. The discussions and answers provided by Sanjeev were honest and transparent.—I truly appreciate this. However, I would have liked the agenda to be highlighted more broadly in the meeting invite. Nonetheless, I am positive the next group will benefit from our experience".

With a great first response, our aim is to host this forum on a quarterly basis and incorporate all the feedback that we receive to ensure continued success.
