Mrs. Melanie Baker Gifted Education
How long have you been teaching? 18 years How long have you been at TES? 10 Years Where did you grow up? Orlando, Florida Where did you go to school? Lake Brantley High School/ TSU What do you love most about TES? The babies, big or small I have the opportunity to teach. They are my heart (as corny as that may sound). Tell us a little bit about your family. I am married to Russ Baker and we have one child, Gibson Howell Baker (4), who absolutely completes us. How do you like to spend your breaks? Family, friends, beach, and I’m a bit of a tech geek. What is your favorite book for the grade you teach? Well for 2nd grade it would be Frederick, by Leo Leoni. It’s about TEAMWORK and so am I. What do you appreciate most from parents? Understanding that I am human. What do you think is the best part about teaching? Meeting children where they are and taking them as far as I can no matter what their level. A little something extra about me. I am honest, a true friend, love being a mommy, and have never looked at what I do as a job but rather an opportunity to touch the lives of children. I think God put me on this earth to be a teacher and I say that with great pride.

Have a safe Halloween Swords, knives, and similar costume accessories should be short, soft,
and flexible. Avoid trick-or-treating alone. Walk in groups or with a trusted adult. Fasten reflective tape to costumes and bags to help drivers see you. Examine all treats for choking hazards and tampering before eating
them. Limit the amount of treats you eat. Hold a flashlight while trick-or-treating to help you see and others see
you. Always WALK and don't run from house to house. Always test make-up in a small area first. Remove it before
bedtime to prevent possible skin and eye irritation. Look both ways before crossing the street. Lower your risk for serious eye injury by not wearing decorative contact
lenses. Only walk on sidewalks whenever possible, or on the far edge of the
road facing traffic to stay safe. Wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes to avoid blocked vision,
trips, and falls. Eat only factory-wrapped treats. Avoid eating homemade treats made by
strangers. Enter homes only if you're with a trusted adult. Only visit well-lit houses. Don't stop at dark houses. Never accept rides from strangers.
