Harrison is primarily a running team. The Raiders get 64% of their offense from their running

attack.

Kokomo leans more toward their passing game. The Kats get 60% of their offense from their

aerial attack.

The Wildkats rushing game has improved over the last two weeks. The Kats have 76% of their

season rushing total coming in their last two games – Muncie Central and Logansport.

Harrison is the top rushing team in the North Central Conference. The Raiders’ 1654 yards is

90 more than Arsenal Tech’s total of 1564.

The Raiders have rushed for 18 touchdowns this year. Only Lafayette Jeff in the NCC has

more, and the Bronchos offense has 30 TDs on the ground.

Harrison has 276 rushing attempts in 2019, the most in the NCC. No other school in the

conference has more than 222 carries.

Harrison and Kokomo are ranked second and third, respectively, in the league in passing

yardage, but both pale in comparison to Lafayette Jeff. Harrison has 950 yards through the air,

and Kokomo has 871, both less than half of the Bronchos’ 2036 yards.

Harrison’s defenders have intercepted four passes in seven games; Kokomo has three.

Both Kokomo and Harrison have made one field goal this season, and both were from 28 yards

out. The Kats have attempted three field goals and the Raiders, four.

Harrison has been successful on 32 of their 33 PAT attempts.

In five NCC games, Harrison has allowed 61 points, second fewest in the conference. Only

Marion has allowed fewer points with 19. Kokomo has allowed 200.

In five NCC games, Harrison has scored 189 points, over twice as many as Kokomo’s 93. The

Raiders’ total is fourth best in the league, and Kokomo’s is 6th most.

Offensively, Harrison will start four seniors, six juniors, and one sophomore. On defense, the

Raiders will go with six seniors, three juniors, and a pair of sophomores.

The Wildkats open with three seniors on offense to go with five juniors, two sophomores, and

one freshman. Defensively, the Kats will start seven seniors, two juniors, and two

sophomores.

Kokomo is -13 in turnover margin.

Page 6: Terry Bradshaw - s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com

Kokomo does not have a single player that will start both offensively and defensively.

Jake Smith, a 6’2”, 200-pound senior, is a two-way starter for Harrison. He plays a wide receiver

on offense and a cornerback on defense.

Harrison’s Omarion Dixon is third in the NCC in rushing with 833 yards, behind Muncie

Central’s Shoka Griffin (1046) and Lafayette Jeff’s Marquis Munoz (841). The 6’1”, 205-pound

junior has eight touchdowns to go with his 119 yards per game rushing average. Dixon has

surpassed 100 yards in six of Harrison’s seven games with a season high of 169 yards in the

opener against Westfield.

Omarion Dixon accounts for 50.4% of Harrison’s rushing yards.

For his 19-game varsity career, Omarion Dixon has 327 carries for 1720 yards with 15

touchdowns.

Marcel Atisso, another Harrison running back, has 535 yards rushing this season. He had a

season high of 115 last week against McCutcheon. Atisso, who has seven touchdowns, is seventh

in the NCC in rushing.

Tyler Knoy is the sophomore quarterback for the Raiders. He is 47-of-88 for 920 yards. Knoy is

second in the NCC in yards, trailing only Maximus Grimes of Jeff, who has 1641 yards. Knoy

has an excellent ratio of touchdown passes to interceptions, throwing 15 TDs to just two picks.

Tyler Knoy’s best passing game of the season came in the season opener against Westfield when

he completed 10 of his 20 passes for 215 yards.

Tyler Knoy needs 21 passing yards to reach 1000 for his career.

Jake Smith, Tyler Knoy’s top target, has caught 19 passes for 272 yards and six touchdowns. In

his three years on the varsity, Smith has 30 catches for 385 yards and eight scores.

Harrison’s longest play from scrimmage this season was an 80-yard pass from Tyler Knoy to Jake

Smith.

Quinton Wood is the top tackler for Harrison with 60 stops in seven games. He is coming off a

12-tackle game against McCutcheon, a season high. Last year, he had a career-best 17 tackles

against Kokomo in the regular season game.

Plez Lawrence, Kokomo’s primary running back, has 287 yards on the ground, 50.4% of the

Wildkats rushing total of 569 yards.

Noa Wainscott, the Kats leading receiver, has 386 yards in catches, which accounts for 44.3% of

Kokomo’s 871 yards in the passing department.

It remains Jeff and Marion at the top of the NCC football standings. The Bronchos and Giants,

who won’t play each other this year, both have 5-0 records in the conference. At the other end of

the spectrum, Logansport and Muncie Central both have lost their five league games.

Jefferson, playing without star quarterback Maximus Grimes, didn’t miss a beat in downing

Richmond 54-12 as backup QB Brady Preston threw for 374 yards and four touchdowns. Running

back Marquis Munoz took center stage for the Bronchos, who ran their overall record to 7-0, with a

record-setting performance. In gaining 139 yards on nine rushing attempts, Munoz became Jeff’s

all-time leader in rushing yards with 3639 yards. He also set the Broncho mark for career points.

Derrick Matthews and Bishop Johnson, who each had six catches, had receptions for 130 and 131

yards, respectively. Richmond’s Drew Van Vleet completed a season low three passes in eight

attempts for 22 yards, and running back Wyatt Byrd had 16 carries for 69 yards as the Bronchos

held Richmond to 82 yards of offense. Both Red Devils scores came on interception returns.

Marion upped their overall record to 6-1 as the Giants left no doubt in a 48-6 beating of Muncie

Central. It was 27-0 in favor of the Grant County boys after one quarter, and it was 41-6 at

halftime. Marion gained 385 yards of offense, including a stellar performance by J.K. Thomas.

Thomas scored touchdowns on four consecutive touches and finished the game with a season high

147 yards on the ground. The Giants were playing without leading rusher Khalid Stamps, who was

serving a one-game suspension. Shoka Griffin, Central’s bruising back, ran the ball 18 times for

Central but gained 61 yards. Bearcat QB Max Pittman connected on 11-of-18 passes for 80 yards,

but was picked off on two separate occasions.

The Sword goes to the winner of the Harrison-McCutcheon football game, and the Raiders kept the

traveling trophy with a 42-14 win. It was Harrison’s first win at Ellison Stadium since 2007 and

the first time for back-to-back “Sword” wins since 2008. The Raiders rushed for 324 yards and

were led by Omarion Dixon, who had 104. Steve Coffing, who suffered a tear to ligaments in the

AC joint in his right shoulder in the season opener, returned to rush eight times for 95 yards.

Marcel Atisso added 114 yards rushing, one touchdown via the rush and one via the pass.

Quarterback Tyler Knoy threw for 159 yards, 90 of it to Jake Smith in seven receptions.

Mavericks QB Mason Douglas ran for 174 yards and a score, but was 5-for-13 passing for 47

yards.

Tech gained 457 yards of offense and scored three times with their running game and three more

with their passing attack in a 47-7 win over Anderson. Titan quarterback Cailer Bridges had nine

rushes for 139 yards and one touchdown and connected on six of his 12 passes for 122 yards and

three scores.

This week Kokomo heads to Tippecanoe County to take on the Harrison Raiders, Logansport

travels to Jeff, Marion visits Tech, McCutcheon goes to Muncie Central, and Richmond will head

up to Anderson.

November 2, 2018

Harrison claimed their first sectional football title since 1994 with a 19-16 victory over

Kokomo at Walter Cross Field.

With the score tied at 10-all, the Raiders put together an 11-play, 81-yard drive to score the

go-ahead touchdown with 5:18 left in the game. Andrew Jensen connected with Jake Smith

from four yards out for the score. Key to the drive was another Jensen-to-Smith pass that

covered 23 yards.

It took the Kats two plays to score, and it was 17-16. But the Kats mishandled a center-

holder exchange, missing the extra point attempt.

Kokomo got the ball back deep in their own territory, and the Harrison defense scored on a

safety. The ensuing attempt at an onsides kick didn’t go Kokomo’s way, and the Raiders

survived 19-16.

Both teams had 209 yards of offense. The Kats had just one yard rushing, and Levi Hrabos

hit of 16-of-28 passes for 208 yards. Harrison’s offense came mainly on the ground, where

the Raiders racked up 162 yards, 51 of it on Omarion Dixon’s 20 carries.

KHS Student-Athlete of the Week

Plez Lawrence

Plez, a sophomore, is the starting running back for the Kokomo Wildkats football

team. In last week’s game with longtime rival Logansport, Plez carried the ball 20

times for 180 yards and three touchdowns. All were season highs by a KHS player

this year. Lawrence also had a 61-yard run in the second quarter, the longest rush by

a Kat since Donte Smoot had a 71-yarder against Logansport two years ago.
