Conducting the Assessment – General points to note:

• Keep your mobile phone OFF during the entire oral assessment

• Oral Examiners should unseal the packs of assessment papers in the oral

assessment room

• Students without a valid ID card / student handbook CANNOT take part in

the oral assessment

• If the reserve list of a particular class is used up, Oral Examiners can select

any class number at random

• Information regarding any aspect of the assessment and student

performances is strictly confidential and should NOT be disclosed to

Conducting the Assessment – Rating the students:

• It is NOT necessary to allocate a certain percentage of students for each

score

• Rate ALL STUDENTS independently and consistently throughout the

assessments according to the Speaking Marking Scheme

• Be FRIENDLY and put the students at ease by giving positive

reinforcement and praise

• Students should be encouraged to maintain EYE CONTACT with the oral

examiners

• Do NOT give half a mark to any of the criteria
