TERRAPIN TIMES ARNOLD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MAY 2018 Dear Parents and Guardians, It is hard to believe that May is here! As we begin the final marking period, we will be very busy! We will celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week May 7 th -11 th . This is a time to recognize all of our dedi- cated, talented, and hardworking teachers who make a difference every day. Please join me in say- ing thank you to all of our Arnold Elementary Teachers. Third, Fourth and Fifth graders will be taking the PARCC assessment this month. Testing begins each morning. Please en- courage your child to get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast. If breakfast at home is dif- ficult, remember the cafeteria sells breakfast items in the morning for all students. It is also very im- portant to be present and on time. Kindergarten registration is now open for next school year. In order to be fully staffed it is important for families with new kindergartners or new to the area register as soon as possible. Our teacher staffing and student teacher ratio depends on our student enrollment. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email me. Thank you again to all of our wonderful teaching staff who make a difference every day! MAY 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is hard to believe that May is here! As we begin the final marking period, we will be very busy! We will celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week May 7th -11th. This is a time to recognize all of our dedi-cated, talented, and hardworking teachers who make a difference every day. Please join me in say-

ing thank you to all of our Arnold Elementary Teachers.

Third, Fourth and Fifth graders will be taking the PARCC assessment this month. Testing begins each morning. Please en-courage your child to get a good night’s rest and eat a healthy breakfast. If breakfast at home is dif-ficult, remember the cafeteria sells breakfast items in the morning for all students. It is also very im-

portant to be present and on time.

Kindergarten registration is now open for next school year. In order to be fully staffed it is important for families with new kindergartners or new to the area register as soon as possible. Our teacher staffing and student teacher ratio depends on our student enrollment. If you have any questions,

please feel free to call or email me.

Thank you again to all of our wonderful teaching staff who make a difference every day!

Dads Rock Recess

Mr. Gardner is looking for some dads that are willing to come out and volunteer during Arnold

Recess. Right now the kids are having a blast with hula hoops, jump ropes, playground balls and

footballs. But we are also looking for dads that are willing to help organize games in addition to

having fun with the kids.

Dr. Kurt Hinson (Dr. Recess) came in and taught recess games to our students during a whole

school assembly. The kids absolutely love these games but we need some help organizing them

and teaching them to the students. Mr. Gardner would like to meet with the Dad’s prior to

helping out at recess so that he can teach and show how to organize the games. For a half hour

on a Monday (10 am) or Friday (830 am) Mr. Gardner will take time to present the games to the

dad’s that are willing to volunteer.

Here are a list of the games that Dr. Recess taught to our kids: cookie jar, hoop ball, hoop

guard, monkey in the middle, and drop 21 just to name a few.

Our Arnold recess schedule per grade level is below. We are looking for Dad’s to help out and

play games any time they are available during scheduled recess times. Please email Mr.

Gardner if you are interested in helping out. You are welcome to sign up for multiple recess

times if you have more than one child in the school.

We are looking forward to seeing our dad’s rock recess for Arnold kids. If you have any

questions please contact Mr. [email protected]

April 23, 2018 Dear Parents, Over the summer many families move to new homes outside of the Arnold attendance area. When a child transfers to another school, there are certain documents that need to be completed and given to the family to take to the new school when they register. If you will be moving out of the Arnold attendance area over the summer, please complete the form below and return it to the school by Friday, June 1, 2018. With this information, school personnel will be able to accurately complete the necessary transfer forms, which will be given to your child on the last day of school. These transfer forms must be taken to the new school at the time of registration.
