LEVEL 0 - Banyan Tree Spa
The areas on this floor are the Hall and Reception, Restaurant & Spa’s Gallery, Administrative Areas, Support Areas, Men and woman changing rooms
and Leisure Pool.
The lobby and reception are presented in a large open space with a view framed by a contemporary interpretation, with colors inspired by nature and
oriental influences.
The reception is in a commanding position, controlling all entrances and exit. It stands out visually as piece composed by panels of Sucupira wood, where
the contours are accented by indirect lighting.
The design of the wooden molded ceiling flanked by light strengthens the axial space and ends on the wood panel also, at the back of the countertop.
The cascading water plan, incorporating the theme of water and its reflections in the interior spaces, is an important contribution to the desired relaxed
atmosphere.
The entrance area connecting simultaneously to the restaurant and gallery space of the SPA. These spaces receive natural light from the large window
and the covers of MDF cut to an identified pattern of the SPA, figure like an important decorative element. This pattern also applies in several wood works,
creating a counterpoint to the window glasses.

In the leisure pool, the floor and wall coverings are designed to give the space highlight the natural textures of stone, but with the proper materials for the
aggressive environment of the pools. On the walls the porcelain mosaic chosen was the Grey Limestone Lappato with optimum water-repellent property
but whilst conveying the appearance of stone.

LEVEL 1 - Banyan Tree Spa
The activities on this level offer different rooms for spa treatments, and the main rooms are equipped with hydro massage and steam showers (Rainmist). We try to link the issue of the coverings to the philosophy of treatment and coating materials listed here are premium quality, easy maintenance, guaran-teeing the hygienic aspect, but retaining the exotic nature of a quiet and characteristic oriental-influenced spa. We used the Pulpis Collection, or Vison Lappato, Vison Tasselato Lappato or Marfil Lappato to obtain the desired variety of textures in brown and cream shades.
11CONTRACT
The architectural language of the interior has been developed in simple shapes and fluid design, in which shows the contrast and the textures of the
coverings varieties, glass transparencies , subtle color variation to be applied on walls in function to identify each room, and use of plans and different
materials to define and delineate various spaces and routes.

Circulations in dressing rooms and spa pool deck pavement has the same grooved design with mosaic tiles in grey shades. We used the Lava Grey
and Patina Black listas. The walls feature Newstone Marfil and Patina Black.
In the thermal swimming pool the coverings on the floors and walls are intended to give the look and feel of natural textures of stone, but using materi-
als suitable for the aggressive environment of thermal waters. On the walls mosaic tiles chosen, with the optimum characteristics of water-repellent,
reflects the appearance of small cut stones and deconcentrated boards. For that purpose we used the Antique Limestone Sin Fin

Termas do Estoril - Treatment Rooms
The concept is similar in the treatment rooms, continuing to shades of dark green mosaic Patina Black and stony white of Newstone series Marfil to the
Vichy shower rooms hydro massage bathtubs, in contrast to the brown tones sludge treatment rooms, which was used Metal Copper serie. The theme of
the coverings was intended to the philosophy of treatment.

INTERVIEW
What were the main influences that affected your formation training and your jobs?
NP: “The influences are determined according to the specific characteristics of each project. However, the architecture of simple lines and fluidity, match-es between opaque and transparent materials, light and shadow volumes and empty spaces, are characteristics that we try to explore in our projects.”
Characteristics of your projects. Author Mark
NP “The projects are the result of the team design work, however, it is clear the personal criteria of the project leader. The constant search for adequate solutions combined with personal taste ends up imposing an author Mark.”
What issues are most important to consider when planning?
NP: “Each project has its challenges and the influences vary. We always have firm concerns to integrate the project in its rightful place, taking into account the characteristics of location and the desired occupational program, so defining the architectural language to adopt.”
What constructive solutions do porcelain tiles add to your projects?
NP: “The porcelain tiles is mainly applied in interior projects, the coverings of walls and pavements, with different shapes and sizes, varying textures and colors following the environment we create.”
When choosing the material is priority given to encourage sustainable development?
NP: “Obviously, this factor is very important.”
20CONTRACT
What were the main motivations for choosing Apavisa porcelain material for this project?
NP: “In The Termas de Estoril I wanted a material resistant to aggressive nature of the thermal water while presenting the appearance of stone, with some texture and natural colors. Patina Series, namely the mosaic Patina Black, complain all requirements and was used in the main halls and treatment rooms, in front of the mosaic neutral color of the series Newstone Marfil.
In the sludge treatment rooms we based our choice on the Iron colors of the Metal Series Collection, for a contrasting effect.
At Banyan Tree Spa we have chosen Pulpis Collection, using the Vison, the vison Tasselato Lappato and Marfil to obtain the desired variety of textures in brown and cream shades. In the area of the spa pool we used Limestone Gris Lappato, because of quality and stone look.”
You used Apavisa material in other projects? Can you name a job?
NP: “Yes, I had used Apavisa Materials in several wellness projects, especially in the Holmes Place Health Clubs chain in Portugal and Spain. We have found in Apavisa solutions and a variety of textures that we want for those spaces.
