The NEA will be based on 3 challenges set by the exam board, this is given to the school at the start of June
The content of the NEA will be equivalent to 20 A3 pages – deadlines will have to be met on a regular basis in order to meet the demands of this element of the course
Throughout year 10 the curriculum model enables us to have a double lesson and a single lesson weekly. In a broad sense, the double lesson will contain activities that will develop student’s skills and knowledge through a varied range of activities and the single lesson will focus on the theoretical aspect of the course.
The course has less of a focus on acquiring practical skills and a stronger focus on equipping students
The new GCSE course requires students to sit all examinations at the end of Year 11. It is therefore of the utmost importance that students retain the work and notes that they produce throughout Year 10 to aid their revision in Year 11. Students will be given copies of Macbeth, Blood Brothers and Jekyll and Hyde to use in class, however, experience has shown that students who are successful in exams are those who have engaged with texts and re‐read them many time, so parents may wish to purchase their own copies of texts and revision guides. We will write to all parents early in the year specifying the best editions of texts and revision guides and, subject to sufficient interest, will look at bulk buying texts for students to purchase in order to minimise the cost to parents.
