Term 1 Theme: Teddy Bear Teddy Bear
Our little ones started off the term with Ball Playwhich enabled them to develop skills in gaining an adult’s attention by throwing or rolling a ball towards a peer
or educarer.
The next highlight of the term was Music &
Movement involving a large group which helped the
younger ones, between 4 to 6 months old, to continue develop a relationship with
a familiar adult.
For our infants between ages 7 to 17 months old,
they were able to express their emotions through
body movements.
Our little ones explored a variety of household items during Pretend Play.Through the two-way interaction, they developed a bond with their
educarers and peers. They were also introduced to new spoken words such
as “see” and “taste”.
During Art, the children were engaged in Full Body Painting. They had a great time
experiencing free painting by using their whole body and interacting with their educarers
through babbling or making sounds.

Roll, Paint & Paste
The toddlers used different types of art medium - crayons, sponge, paint and crepe paper
for their Envelope Rubbing, Sponge Painting and Collageactivities. These activities
enhanced their fine motor skills, spatial awareness and creativity.
Let’s play & learn together!
The toddlers engaged in group activities such as
Water Exploration, Block Play and Plastic
Ring Toss.
Learning through play enhances
social interaction, teamwork and
body coordination.
Finger Gym time!
Manipulative Play with plastic bolts and nuts and Threading Play using loose parts (toilet rolls with holes, assorted straws and assorted pipe cleaners) enhanced toddlers’ fine motor skills! These also improved on their cognitive skills as they
experienced trial-and-error and used their creativity to solve problems.

The toddlers were not afraid to use their hands to scoop the pasta during sensory play! They were given cups to scoop pasta and to transfer them from from one cup to another. They also had fun pouring the pasta from a height and watched the colorful pasta as they dropped!
The toddlers were engaged in the Music & Movement activity called “My Pet Cat”. They pretended to be cats and crawled around the classroom while purring like cats- “meow!”. During this activity, they were able to develop body coordination, stability and creative movements.
Toddlers love the playground! Other than playing with the slides and running around, they attempted to climb up a wall with steps independently. The toddlers learnt to use their body strength to help themselves get to the top of the wall.

popsicles while beating the scorching heat! Yes, you read it right! Painting with popsicles was so much fun as the children were able to
observe how the popsicle melts as they paint away! They tried to create faces, shapes and

Let’s read!
As the saying goes by Dr
Suess, “ The more that
you read, the more things
you will know”.
Children were introduced
to new words , writing
short sentences and
enriching their imagination
through reading
programmes.
Our home
Bringing the concept of home
into the dramatic centre allows
the K1 children to express their
imagination and reenact the
different house chores.
Children had the opportunity to
role play where they learnt to
wash, hang and fold clothes.
Our future artist!
Meet the future artists exploring
with a variety of art materials,
such as paintbrush and paint, as well
as unconventional materials such as
toy cars to create shapes, lines and
colours. Oh look! How creative they
were in creating their own
masterpiece.

Sneak peek in Kindergarten 2 My favourite toy!
We begin Year 2020 with the theme ‘Me and my friends’. The K2s surely enjoyed learning about
their friends’ favourite toys during Show & Tell as they shared with one another the ‘whats’ and
‘whys’. This activity built on their public speaking skills as well as their comprehension skills.
Friendship Salad
In the process of knowing each other better, the children were involved in making a friendship salad. Each ingredient represents
something important that a classroom needs such as good friends, sharing and hard workers in classroom! The marshmallows at the end were the children’s favourite and they represent the
kind words used in a classroom.
Fizzy Cloud Dough
The K2s used their observation skills to see the results when mixing drops of vinegar in cloud dough. They were amazing little helpers who were always
eager to mix ingredients and asking questions pertaining to the changes of the cloud dough!
Let’s Dress Up!
The Costume Shop is the K2’s all-time favourite activity in this term. Through
dramatisation, it enhances their social skills such as turn-taking, negotiation as well as
communication skills.

Kidz Meadow @ Hougang conducted a Tea Session for
parents on 18 January. During the tea session, the
parents were made aware of the curriculum that Kidz
Meadow is offering. They also had the opportunity to
speak to their child’s teachers regarding the recent
updates as well as how the teachers and parents can
work together for the benefit of the children.
There was also a Parent-Child Activity where parents
and children were involved in making a wind chime which
was part of the Nature Magnified Launch.
For those who are not aware, Nature Magnified is a
programme developed by Kidz Meadow teachers and has
been integrated in the curriculum since 3 years ago!
This programme caters to N2 to K2
children and it enables children to be
closer to nature and bringing
nature into the classroom, using
