Principal’s Report I would like to thank all the staff at Lismore Public School for their ongoing commitment to supporting all our students. It

has been a busy and challenging year and it has been a delight to work alongside so many talented and dedicated staff.

Thanks also to the families who have supported Lismore Public School, and the students who have engaged so positively

with their learning and additional activities.

I hope all families enjoy some quality time together over the Christmas period. For those families leaving Lismore Public

School, on behalf of the staff wish you the very best.

Merry Christmas! Presentation Day Congratulations to all the award winners at last week’s presentation day, and well done to our performers in the junior and

senior choirs and the Aboriginal Dance Group. Thanks to our 2015 captains Rocket Wilson and Daisy Thompson and

vice-captains Josh Rogers and Bianca Kelly for their efforts representing the students this year. Welcome to our

captains-elect Cooper McDonald-Eyles and Emmeline Taylor and vice-captains elect Beau Campbell and Maia Bellmaine.

Smoking In the interest of health and positive roll modelling, visitors are asked to refrain from smoking near school entrances.

North Coast Aboriginal Education Awards Last Wednesday three of our senior students received awards at the North Coast Aboriginal Education Awards Ceremony

at Southern Cross University. Well done Danielle B, Rocket W and Bianca K.

School Survey Students should have taken home a brief survey last week. Please take a moment to complete this as your feedback is

important in ensuring Lismore Public School is meeting its community’s needs.

Con nued from last week...

Bad History Sky and Moon lapped up water from the lake, side by side. Sky looked up at the ripples on the water, surfing across it un l it collided with another one and disappeared completely. His eyes then caught movements of the cubs playing together in the lake soaking any of the lionesses who were ignorant enough to get close. He scanned the rest of the water hole searching  for any other animal apart  from the  lions but the other animals had fled when his pride arrived, afraid they might a ack them. He sighed and then con nued to lap up water,

“Willow Leaf is afraid of you,” Moon said so ly. He stopped drinking. Sky li ed his hooded red eyes to Moon’s slender body, dusty black  fur and twinkling blue eyes. He  followed them to Willow chasing Hard and Pad around twisted trees, her snow white pelt standing out against the gold and roan pelts of the other lions. Sky then gazed into Moon’s frosty blue eyes and realised how deep they went.

“Why?” he asked, even though he knew exactly why she was afraid of him. Moon gave him a quick glance before le ng her eyes chase Willow again.

“I’m assuming it’s the prophecy,” she said, amused by his lack of knowledge.

He snorted, “It’s not like I didn’t know that,” Sky murmured grudgingly. Moon threw him a hateful glare. He stared at down at his paws, ashamed of his a tude towards her. Suddenly Willow saw Sky and stopped in her tracks, Pad and Stone stared back at her, wondering why she had stopped. Sky looked up and saw Willow staring at her and held her gaze. As they locked eyes across the lake, Sky saw fearful tears flood her eyes; he saw her tail twitch as if she was ready to run away. She looked down as if it was too much to even look at him anymore. He did too, wan ng to break the tension between them.

YR 6 Graduation Dinner

On Thursday the 11th December our year 6 students celebrated their last formal event with our school. They dressed up and arrived in style at Southern Cross University to a beautifully decorated auditorium. There was some wonderful dancing, a few laughs (at the expense of the teacher’s) and a lovely meal. Our year 6 students have certainly made us proud. We would like to wish them well for High school and thank them for their involvement and contribution to Lismore Public School. Kathryn Clark ‐ Relieving Assistant Principal

LPS Carols by Candle Light

One of our students, George Roberts, has a very special interest in garbage trucks. Attached is an article from the Lismore City Council Staff Newsletter that has an article and several photos of George helping garbage truck driver, Brenton Hare, take his bins out and empty them. George had the time of his life.

Jenny Lumley - SCJ Teacher

On the 3rd of December Lismore Public School students, teachers, parents, family and community members gathered together to celebrate and sing Christmas Carols. The evening was beautiful. Mr Gill and Mr Hoskins had spent much of the day watching the weather deciding if it would storm or not. As it turned out the sky was clear, the carols were beautiful and the students were beautifully behaved. Thankyou to the teachers for their efforts and especially to Mr Hoskins’ for his set up. This is one of the loveliest evenings on our school calendar and it showcases our school spirit. Kathryn Clark - Relieving Assistant Principal
