students will be dancing at the Woolloomooloo
Block Party at approximately 12:30. Students are
asked to be at the basketball courts from midday.
We will be decorating the area with student made
Christmas decorations and performing a dance that
the students have learnt this term with Maya our
dance teacher. This is an open invitation to all
families and community members to celebrate the
creativity of our students. I will send out more
information when I receive it.
Thanks to the Kings Cross Police, the students in
years 3-6 will be travelling by bus on December the

students will take part in fun and engaging activities
that are both challenging and engaging. Permission

It has been a busy two weeks in Kakadu. Dance has started again and the children have done some excellent dancing with their dance teacher Maya. We have also been having lots of fun in Science…making explosions! The children were amazed when they made a foaming potion and discovered how they could make it change colour. This week we made an erupting volcano and investigated why it erupted and if we could get it to erupt again! We have been learning about pattern in maths and have made lots of repeating patterns and counting number patterns. Our wonderful Story Factory Buddies have working with us to create poems about our senses. The children have been working really hard and we can’t wait to share them with you.
Term 4 is going very quickly and we have all been keeping busy. All the
students have been working really hard on their individual research
projects where they have picked an animal and are making a mini
information book on that animal. They are all starting to look great. We
have also been learning and practicing netball skills so that we are ready
for the Netball tournament coming up. I have been impressed with some of
the kid’s netball skills especially considering they have never played
before. We also welcomed in the year 2 students to our class for the
morning. They all got straight to work and joined in with the activities.
Preschool have been very creative over the last two weeks. They have been dancing to music. We have learned quite a few little dancing games. We are going to perform one for you next week at Assembly. It’s called the Bondi Boogie. The dance teacher, Maya who comes in each week, has shown us some really professional moves for it. Besides dancing we have been performing music to play to you later for Christmas….clapsticks, drums and bells. There has been very creative activity both at the playdough table and with the collage materials. Some wonderful paintings were made too. I have included one collage and two paintings for you to see. One is Inara’s painting of her family in the park getting their photograph taken and the other is Eric’s very dramatic painting of the “non” supermoon….he went to the beach to see it and there were only a few stars to see the cloud was over the moon.

On Monday 14th November all staff stayed at school to complete three hours of
Kidsmatter professional learning. We began the session relooking at the achievements
we have made developing our positive school culture and implementing social and
emotional learning programs across the school P-6. Then we worked through
Component 3 – Working with parents and carers. I believe Plunkett St Public School staff
work very closely with parents and carers to ensure the best educational outcomes for
our students. The positive relationships we have developed have an enormous impact
on the well-being of all of our students. I would like to congratulate the parents and
carers of Plunkett St students on their commitment to their child’s school and education.
If you would like any further information, please let me know.
