Term 3 Week 10 Thursday, 21 September 2017

P&C Movie Night Thank you for our great P&C members who organised and ran our movie night last Friday. The event was another example of parents and staff giving up their time to provide a fun activity for our kids. We are always looking for more volunteers to assist with events or attend our meetings. Please come and join us on the second Wednesday night of each month, or throw your hand up to give up an hour or two for one of the fundraising events. The benefits of volunteering your time include:

1. Your kids will love to see you volunteering

at school

2. It builds a strong sense of community

spirit and you get to meet new people

3. It helps broaden the volunteer base as

‘many hands make light work’ and takes

the pressure of the few who give up their

time.

We need to hear your voice. Our major parent survey will be closing after the holidays.

So far only 38 people have completed our survey. We really need your input.

Link: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/wgps2017 This Term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support

Term 4 Planner We are currently in the process of completing a Term 4 calendar for anticipated events for the remainder of the year. Lock these dates in your diaries. Of course, due to weather and other circumstances some things change, however we are being as proactive as possible to increase our communication through our Skoolbag and social media channels to keep our community connected.

Staffing changes This week we have farewelled our school chaplain Pastor Con who has been working each Tuesday to support our students. Also, Mrs Stanley one of our outstanding School Learning Support Officers, has accepted a full time position in the Department of Education State office. We wish these great people all the best in their new roles.

Leading the way in technology You may have seen a recent post on our Facebook page showcasing our school throughout the department as a school leading innovative technology programs for our students. In case you missed it you can access it here https://schoolsequella.det.nsw.edu.au/file/f4cc2696-c95d-4400-8e30-f8101adaa418/1/FutureStories.zip/FutureStories.html

How lucky we are As we slide into the holiday period, on behalf of the teaching, administration and support staff, we’d like to give a big thank you to you, our community for your encouragement and positivity to support learning in our school. Every day, I reflect on how lucky our students are to be taught by inspiring and dedicated teachers in such a wonderful school like Wattle Grove. There’s lots more planned for Term 4 which we will share after everyone has a big rest and recharges the batteries.

Wishing you a relaxing time with family and loved ones over the holidays. Thought for the fortnight

A BIG Thankyou to everyone who has collected the EARN and LEARN stickers from Woolworths during their recent promotion. This promotion has now finished but we are still able to collect stickers from friends, neighbours and relatives during the school holidays.

Could you please arrange to have all outstanding stickers and sheets (even if incomplete) returned to the school on Monday 9th or Tuesday 10th October so we can arrange a final tally. Once again, thanks.

Deployments and Absence Please make sure you let your child’s teacher or I know if a member of your family is away for an extended period of time. Having this knowledge will go towards supporting the student at school throughout the absence period.

Postings As you know it is posting time again. Many of you would already know if you will be moving at the end of the year. Please make sure you contact the office/classroom teacher and DSTA to inform of students last day of school and where you will be moving to. This information is much appreciated by the school for further planning.
