All students were positive in their efforts and tried their very best. Results from these tests will be sent to the school in August. All parents/ carers will receive a copy of their child’s NAPLAN report when they are made available to the school. Late to School It is important to note that school starts in the classroom right on 9:15am. It is important that students are at school and ready to line up by 9:10am, so that they do not miss valuable instruction. The mornings are the most important part of the day when explicit literacy and numeracy lessons take place. If your child does come late, they need to ensure that their lunch order is in well before lunch at 11:15am. Ready Set Kinder Hay Public School is seeking enrolments in its Ready Set Kinder program for students commencing school in 2019. Ready Set Kinder is an initiative of Hay Public School that has been running since 2009. It provides prospective Kindergarten students a chance to enrol in a quality, educational program, delivered by an experienced early childhood trained teacher. The program runs over two terms and students experience life at their new school for one full day per week (Wednesdays). Throughout the course of the day, students learn to socialise, meet new friends, engage in literacy, language, numeracy, creative and performing arts programs and learn the necessary routines of a school day. This will ensure that students are on track to have the best possible start to their formal primary education. We welcome enquiries from all prospective parents as names are being taken now. Please phone 69931270, or call into the front office of the school, to receive an enrolment pack and information about our Ready Set Kinder launch on Wednesday 2nd August. Extra Curricula Activities Presently our students are involved in extra curricula activities, which form part of their school experience. Activities currently running are: Creative Catchment Kids (Year 6); Maths Olympiad (Year 5 & 6), Premier’s Spelling Bee (Years 3-6); NAIDOC Public Speaking (Year 6) and Debating (Year 6). One of the strategic directions of our 2018-20 School Plan is for integrated learning whereby students have the opportunity to engage in a broad range of activities that enhance their literacy and numeracy skills. Uniform Surveys Thank you to the families who have returned their uniform surveys to school. Names are marked off our register when envelopes are returned to school as this is an important part of the voting procedure. Families have until the close of business on Wednesday 30 th May to return surveys. Counting will take place soon after with a result being made public as soon as possible. At this stage we are simply asking families to vote ‘yes’ if you want a change to the current school uniform or vote ‘no’ if you want the uniform to stay as it is. Have a great week! UNIFORM MAIL SURVEY Hay Public School is conducting a survey of its current families to ask whether they would like a change to the current school uniform. This has come about from a motion that was passed at the P&C meeting on the 5th April. Surveys were posted out on Wednesday 16th May to all families and need to be returned to the school by close of business on Wednesday 30th May in the envelope provided. Surveys will only be counted if family names are attached to the survey and they are handed in before the due date. A majority ‘yes’ vote of returned surveys will result in a public meeting being held to discuss options for a new uniform. A majority of ‘no’ votes will result in no change to the current school uniform.
