Muddy puddles, rain drops on trees, autumn leaves and hiding in cubbies is the perfect environment for extending imagination, creativity, wondering, exploration, investigation and wellbeing for our young learners. This week we have discovered baby tadpoles swimming around in the pond. What excitement there was! Questions were being posed….How did they get there? Where and what was their Mum? What will they become? What do they eat? Questions from four year olds in which we will inquire into and research in the coming weeks, to find out the answers. Our Unit of Inquiry this Term is about ‘Sustainable Practices’ and ‘Caring for our Environment and Living things’. We have already learnt so much in the first couple of weeks. The motivation and enthusiasm I see from these young learners showing empathy, care, respect and action is extremely heart-warming! Amongst all of the exciting learning happening, we will soon be welcoming a new group of learners into our Early Learning Centre, as they begin their Kindy transition visits with us. We look forward to meeting them and hope they too can be as excited, inspired and motivated in their learning with us. This term we have asked our families to wait at the College gate to collect their children as a precautionary measure to help limit the number of adults gathered in any one space. Whilst this has been yet another change for our community, we have reflected on the positive outcome of seeing our younger learners develop their resilience, problem solving and independence at an extreme pace. We are also noticing many of our older siblings providing additional care and nurture for their younger bothers and sisters. Our staff teams are also working effectively to ensure that we continue to offer a quality education here at Navigator College even through these challenging changes.
