Week 5 Monday, 22 February KB and KW School Fees Thank you to all the parents/carers who have already paid their school fees or contacted the office in regards to the payment. We would appreciate if the remaining families who have not yet paid could either finalise the payment or contact the office to organise an alternative payment plan. As we are commencing homework soon and classes are ready to start group work, it is really important for all students to be able to access both Mathletics and Reading Eggs. New passwords will be given to all students this year once the subscription is rolled over next week. Unfortunately if these subscriptions are not paid or an arrangement organised through the office students will not receive their new password at this present time. As online learning is so important in this present time, the practice opportunities that these online programs give the student is invaluable as they move through their school years.

Parent Questionnaires for Three-way Interviews Years 1-6

Parent questionnaires for the three-way interviews have been sent home. These questionnaires are invaluable in for successful goal setting between the teachers, students and parents in regards to the students’ learning. The three-way interviews will be held in Week 8. Please return the completed questionnaire to the office on Monday if you have not already done so.

High School Expression of Interest Forms – Yr 7 2021

An information guide and expression of interest form will be sent home with your child on Wednesday, 11 March. Your child’s designated local high school, based on your address, is written on the form. If your address has changed, please contact the school immediately. Forms are to be returned to school as soon as possible, no later than Friday, 20 March.

Please note the Selective High School placement process is conducted separately to this ‘expression of interest’ form. If you have applied for placement at a Selective High School, the ‘expression of interest’ form still needs to be filled out with your alternative preferences to selective schools (eg local high school).

If your child will be attending a non-state school, please state this on your form and return it to the office.

Burnside Reading Club Mrs Millingham and Mrs Ore have introduced a ‘Burnside Reading Club’ for years 1-3. It is held between 8.30am and 8.55am every morning in the library. This is an opportunity for students to read with an adult or a year 6 student each morning. This will be invaluable for students to improve their reading in conjunction with the books that they now enjoy reading at home.

We are still looking for some parent, grandparent volunteers to read with the students. We would love volunteers for each morning, but if you can only do one day that would be great. Please contact the office with your availability for this exciting opportunity for our students.

Positive Behaviour for Learning The school wide approach to PBL has been enhanced through the placement of a classroom behaviour system for the students and teachers to follow. This system offers several opportunities for students to reflect on their behaviour and self-regulate through prompts and supports. The posters are to support the teachers in delivering a consistent school wide approach to behaviour management within the classroom and can be found displayed in each classroom.

I am outstanding when I complete

by best work all day and follow

    all of my teacher’s instructions.

I am making good choices when I follow the school expectations.

    I need a reminder when

I do not follow the school expectations.

I need to move to a different seat

or spot on the mat so I can start

    making good choices again.

I need a short time out when

I do not listen to my teacher

and decline to do the right thing.

I need a long time out in another classroom

when I decline to complete my short time out

    or when my behaviour escalates.

If my behaviour does not improve I will go to the principal and my parents may be phoned.

Parents are welcome to watch from outside while the large door is open but due to limited space we ask you not to enter the Hall.
