TALLIMBA PUBLIC SCHOOL A little school achieving big things

Welcome to Week 10 Thank you to all our families who have provided us with positive feedback and checked in on us over the last week. Our staff is working hard to provide continuity of learning for students and our remote learning model will gradually move to a mix of online and hard copy learning packs. Teachers have been developing units of work that can be delivered on different platforms, and are also engaging in professional learning to ensure they have the skills required to teach in this new way. One of the priorities for staff at Tallimba Public school is maintaining connections with students while they are learning from home. Teachers will make regular contact with students to check on how they are going with their learning and to answer any questions that they have. This contact could take the form of a phone call, email or via the online platform Microsoft Teams. Please feel free to send photos of what your child’s learning looks like. We look forward to seeing our student’s smiling faces. A check-in timetable will be distributed with the first learning pack in Term 2 which will let families know what times of the day each class will be able to access teachers via a face to face online platform. Students with limited access to technology will not be disadvantaged in their learning during this time. This is why we have decided to continue with hard copy work packs for all students. Remote learning is continually evolving for us all and we will continue to keep you updated with systems and processes. At this stage, the following processes are in place. Learning Packs Mark will deliver learning packs each Monday. Please ensure your child’s work from the previous week is in the letterbox by 9 am for collection. We are learning differently and it is essential our teachers monitor, mark and provide feedback on completed learning. We will notify you by Facebook when the delivery run is complete. At this stage, we anticipate that this will be the model for collecting and returning learning packs until we return to normal operations. Teacher Feedback If parents or children have questions about their learning they are asked to contact their classroom teacher. This can be done via phone call, email or a Microsoft Teams video call. Teachers will then address these questions during regular timetabled contact and talk through the activity or concern. Please note Mrs Quade is on Long Service Leave for the remainder of the term.
