Vidyanagar’ in Gujarat, and today this centre is a
‘Bodhigaya’ for over forty thousand young scholars studying

About Vallabh Vidyanagar : Named after
Vithalbhai Patel, freedom fighter and the First
Indian president of the Central Legislative
Assembly under British rule, its foundation was
laid by the Iron Man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai
Patel. In 1945, Shri Bhaikaka and Shri
Bhikhakaka registered a Public Charitable Trust :
The Charutar Vidya Mandal (CVM) and in the
glorious tradition of Nalanda and Takshashila,
they laid the foundation of a model township (on
borrowed land, thanks to the generosity of the
neighboring villages) which was inaugurated by
India's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal
Nehru. The reason of foundation of the University
and the town was to spread the Education in the
Rural Areas of Gujarat. Here education of all the
useful skills of modern age is imparted including
education of pre-primary, primary secondary and
higher secondary, graduation and post graduation
level. The education covers all the disciplines i.e.
arts, commerce, science, mechanical, natural
sciences, social sciences, medicine, fine arts, and
linguistics etc. The town is truly dedicated to the
field of education. On one hand, it captures the
current trends of the youth, while it attempts to
make those trends meaningful by making the
presence of different spiritual centers felt.
