SCOUTING THE REBELS Ole Miss is 22-26 on the season and 2-16 in SEC play. The Rebels are batting .268 as a team and their pitchers have combined for 4.53 ERA. Ole Miss defeated Louisiana-Monroe on Wednesday, 8-0, in five innings. The Rebels are also coming off a three-game series at Mississippi State where they were swept by the Bulldogs and outscored, 19-6. Ole Miss is averaging 4.2 runs per contest while giving up 4.4 runs per game. In 2012, Ole Miss went 22-32 and finished 11th in the SEC with a 7-21 league record. In 2012, outfielder RT Cantillo was named 2nd team All-SEC and infielder Alison Brown was named to the SEC All-Freshman team. Ole Miss returns nine letterwinners from last year’s squad, including five starters and two pitchers. Brittnay Broome is batting .303 and has a team high 31 stolen bases Carly Hummel has been the team’s ace in the circle, posting an 11-14 record, a 4.33 ERA and 104 strikeouts over 28 appearances, 25 starts and 129.1 innings. She has posted 12 complete games and four shutouts to go with a .254 opponent’s batting average. Shelby Jo Fenter has tossed 78 strikeouts in 78.1 frames, with a 4.56 ERA and a .224 opponents’ batting average and a 6-9 record over 19 appearances and 15 starts.
