1.0 Getting Started
From the Department of Mines Industry Regulation and Safety website
www.dmirs.wa.gov.au
Click on “Mineral Titles” and you will be directed to the Department of Mines and
Petroleum page after selecting “yes”.
Select “Online Systems” on the drop down click the “About” button under “Tengraph”
You will see a page with the links to both new Tengraph Web and Tengraph Online
you can use either by clicking the appropriate “Access Tengraph *** ” button. Your
existing Tengraph Online Ex number and password will work for either.

2.0 Getting Around (Tab 1)
This is the default tab open when entering Tengraph Web.
2.1 Pan
Using this tool to click and drag moving around the map with left mouse button, alternatively use the arrow keys on your keyboard.
2.2 Zoom
“In” and “Out” using the next two tools by left clicking on the map, alternatively use the scroll wheel on your mouse, or + and - buttons on the keyboard.
View the next or last map views by left clicking “Forward” or “Back”.
2.3 Full Extent
Get back to the original view of the whole state by left clicking “Initial View” or “Full Extent”.

2.4 Scaling the Menu Bar
By holding down the “Ctrl” button and having the mouse pointer over the menu or
left side menu and using the scroll wheel on the mouse it will scale it to suit your
reading style.
3.0 Legend
The “Legend” runs down the left side of the screen and is a quick way to customize
your display.
3.1 Turning layers on and off
To switch a layer on or off click the box next to it as shown here on the Tenement layer, the example below will switch it off because it has a tick.
3.2 Expanding layers
A + sign indicates more layers are available and can be expanded. A – sign will close the folder again. In this instance the Petroleum layer has been expanded.

3.3 Layer Visibility
The layers above are greyed out this indicates they are not visible at the current scale, by left clicking on the layer and selecting the visible scale, it will zoom to show the layer.
The “Visibility Slider” can also be used on some layers below you can see the transparency set to about half.

3.4 Show Legend In the bottom left corner of the legend is a “Show Legend” button, by left clicking this it toggles between the layers and symbology.
3.5 Legend Filter
An easy way to access a layer if you know the name of it is to use the legend filter, located in the bottom right of the legend, left click the text “Filter1”.
Start typing in the box available, below is an example looking for the hydrology layer.
You can see it has already found the layer, now it can be turned “on” and “off” from here. To see all the layers again close the filter by clicking on the x.

3.6 Hide Side Bar
The legend can be hidden or shown by left clicking the arrow at the top right and viewed again by clicking on the arrow again.
4.0 Symbology
To change the symbology of any layer left click on it and select the “Symbolization” text.
Change colour of fills and borders by selecting the drop down arrows. Transparency, border size and style can also be changed here.
Once you are finished left click “Apply” then “OK”. The symbology will now be changed, to “change it back”, left click the layer again and untick the box.

5.0 Scale and Position
The bottom left of the map display has coordinate readouts and scale that can be adjusted by typing in the box.
The arrow shown below is used to show and hide features
In the bottom right corner of the map display there is an overview map click to view. The red box can now be moved to a new location to show a different map extent, to do this left click the box and drag it to the new location.
6.0 I Want to% Menu
Found in the top left corner this is designed to do most common tasks
(Coloured Blue).

7.0 Bookmarks
Also in the top left corner, by left clicking the bookmark arrow you can jump to a specific
area or create your own by clicking on the + symbol.
8.0 The Context Menu
By right clicking anywhere on the map the context menu appears giving you options
about position you clicked on specifically.

9.0 Identify Tools (Tab 2)
This tab allows you to use a point shape or line to search a specific area of the map.
You can also use a markup shape, this can be created by either clicking the “Add to Markup” box or by using the drawing tools, which will be explained next.
Once a search has been done over an area using one of the identify tools the results will be shown in the side panel where the legend used to be, more specific search tools are found in the “Search”Tab 5.
At the top the number of results is shown in this case 26, as you
mouse over the search results they will turn blue in the map
screen, a new menu option is available by right clicking the title
of interest.
Here you can do a “Quick Appraisal Report, open in “Google Earth”, and a few other things, as shown above. A left click shows the attribute table and where extra information can be found about the item.

9.1 Tenement Holder Chart
Using the “rectangle” or “polygon” tools from the “Identify Tools” Tab
Also ensure the Tenements are turned on in your legend.
Then select the “Show Charting” in your results table.
The result will look something like this.
In the top left corner you can select the chart you would like to display.

10.0 Drawing & Measurement (Tab 3)
With the drawing tools you can draw points, lines, polygons and add text.
Note: To finish drawing double left click
Once the object has been drawn, editing tools appear, now you can adjust size colour
and shape of the object by left clicking edit then the object itself.
This shows a polygon with an orange border at 5 points thick with a green fill at 50%
transparency.
Distance and Area measurements can also be done using the following two tools.
These can be added as a drawing or just placed temporarily by selecting “Add as
Drawing” readouts are shown on the lines and at the top.

10.1 Snapping
While drawing an object you can “Snap” to the corners of different visible layers
by holding down the “Ctrl” button. The layers you can snap to can be controlled
by selecting them from the drop down menu at the top right you may have to scroll
across to see this.
When holding down “Ctrl” you will see a circle representing the point it will snap
to.
10.2 Enhanced Plotting Tools
The enhanced plotting tools allow more detailed drawing to be done. Its found in
the “Drawing and Measurement” tab “Enhanced Plotting Tools”

11.0 Maps & Data Sources (Tab 4)
Adding Shapefiles can be done using the “Open Shapefile” option.
Drawn polygons lines and points can be saved as shapefiles using the “Save as
Shapefile” button.
The current map can also be shared to other colleges; it will open up Tengraph Web in
the same area by copying the link into your email.
Google maps and Geoview can be accessed from here by clicking the
buttons.
12.0 Search Tools (Tab 5)
The “Search” tools allow you to find specific titles, objects or areas. You can “Zoom to
Graticule”, find a “Mine site” or even “Zoom to Coordinate” by entering Latitude
and Longitudes or Grid Coordinates.
12.1 Tenement Search
This is the same as the tenement search in the “I Want to” Menu 6.0.
By clicking on this option start typing in the box provided, ensure you have a space between the letter and the first number. A good indication is when the drop down menu appears allowing you to select from the list.

12.2 Gazetteer/Place Name
Here you can search for a town or specific place type in the box and select from the list.
Various filters can be used to define your search further. A “Spatial Filter” will define the specific area you want to search.
12.3 Petroleum Search Tools
Under the Petroleum tools there are 5 different categories, Petroleum Titles, Special Prospecting Authority , Petroleum Pipelines, Petroleum Applications, and Petroleum Releases.
In the “Title ID” box you can start typing the ID and it will automatically narrow down the search.
Various filters can be used to define your search further. A “Spatial Filter” will define the specific area you want to search.

12.4 Advanced Land
In this search you can find Reserves, File Notation Areas, Section 19’s, Native
Title Claims and Determined lands among other things.
12.5 Advanced Tenement
Here you can search for tenements by Holder, Dead Tenements or find
Historical Tenement Maps.

13.0 Printing & Reports (Tab 6)
You can “Print Map” or print “Construct Details” this will give coordinate details of the polygon selected.
Left click “Print Map” the following options come up, you can choose print size and weather to print in Vector or Raster format.
You will get a pdf preview before you print, for maps with high detail such as aerial photography “Raster” is preferred, “Vector” will only show simple line work e.t.c.

The left picture above shows a “Vector” output whereas the right shows a “Raster” output, the same area and same layers are displayed in both. All print jobs can be reviewed by selecting the tab at the bottom left hand corner.
Then opening each separately.
14.0 Help and Feedback (Tab 7)
The help and feedback tab contains allot of very useful information if you get stuck with
anything, the “Getting Started Guide” and “What’s This?” are a good place to start.

By left clicking “What’s This?” and clicking somewhere on the map, the online help
guide will come up. Now anything specific can be typed in the top right hand corner.
Under the Quick Reference button now available are helpful how to videos.
