Matthew 5:14-16 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill

cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a

bowl… In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may

see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Daniel 1:8 “But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food

and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile

himself this way.”

Daniel 1:9-10 “Now God had caused the official to show favor and

sympathy to Daniel, but the official told Daniel, ‘I am afraid of my lord the

king…Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men

your age? The king would then have my head because of you.’”

Daniel 1:11-14 “Daniel then said to the guard… ‘Please test your servants

for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink.

Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the

royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.’”

2 Peter 1:5-8 “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith

goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control;

and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to

godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you

possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from

being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus

Christ.”

Daniel 1:15-19 “At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better

nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food…The king

talked with them, and he found none equal…In every matter of wisdom

and understanding about… he found them ten times better than all the

magicians and enchanters…”
