Ten Legal commandments- Women self defense

1. Free Legal Aid- Have a lawyer by your side when you lodge a FIR2. Right to privacy while recording the statement- You have the right to record your statement in

full privacy before the district magistrate, when the case is under trial. Alternatively, with just one police officer and a women constable, without any fourth intervening party.

3. Time Does Not matter- You have the right to register FIR irrespective of the time that has elapsed since date of the crime.

4. Email to the rescue-You have the privilege of lodging a FIR through Email or Registered Post5. Cops can’t say No- You have the right to lodge FIR at any police station in the city6. No Arrest after Sunset- You cannot be arrested after sunset and before sunrise. If it is serious

crime then written permission from the magistrate is required to be obtained by the police.7. You can not be called to the police station- You can be called to the police station for

interrogation.8. Doctor can’t decide- A case of rape cannot be dismissed even if the doctor says it was not a rape9. Protect your Identity- Under no circumstances the identity of the rape victim be revealed.10. Employers must protect- It is the duty of the employers to create a women sexual harassment

complaint committee with in the organization.
