Certify your techniciansYou know certified technicians give you an edgewhen submitting bids and preparing documen-tation for regulatory agencies. Having a certifi-cation program also gives you criteria to use in hiring and promoting employees. That’s why hundreds of employers have adopted ISA’s Certified Control SystemsTechnician® (CCST®) Program.

The CCST Program recognizes and documentsyour technicians’ knowledge and experience in instrumentation, measurement and con-trol. Designed to enhance their professionaldevelopment, the CCST program provides athird party endorsement of your technicians’accomplishments by ISA.

Once again, I would like to thank all ofthe leaders within ISA’s District 11specifically for volunteering their time andeffort into making ISA the prestigious andprofessional organization that it is. Histori-cally District 11 is among the strongestdistricts in the society. Without you ISAwould not be what it is. Every year theleaders within ISA coordinate monthlymeetings, golf tournaments, table topshows, scholarships for students, educa-tional seminars, Christmas parties, socialevents that promote exchange of ideas andmethodologies and among other thingscreate relationships that develop as we agein the automation industry. We begin torealize that the automation world is smallerthan we thought before we joined ISA. Inmy mind this is one of the greatest assets toISA and automation, the people.

As I mentioned last month, there are 8sections that make up District 11: SanDiego, Orange County , Los Angeles,Bakersfield, Northern California, Las Vegas,Central Arizona and Hawaii. All sectionsstart there fiscal year on July 1st, which is

why our District Leadership meeting washeld Friday August 22 - Sunday August 24in Temecula, CA. This gave new leadersthe opportunity to participate. It will alsoallowed sections to budget for the meetingsduring the planning meetings that eachincoming president organizes.

ISA election results announcedhearty congratulations to those who have beenelected to serve the Society. I want to also personally thank each of youwho took time to cast a ballot. Data compiled by Survey and BallotSystems, a company that has been conductingonline elections for 20+ years, indicates thatsocieties with membership between 15,000-33,999 conducting an online election typicallyhave a response rate under 10%. I am pleased to report that the participationrate for our election was 6.89%, which alignswith this benchmark. This is especially positivesince this is our first direct election and theelection process was online. In addition, 91.7% of the voters indicatedthey were very satisfied or satisfied with theexperience with only 1.6% indicating they weredissatisfied or very dissatisfied. I would like to thank those of you whoprovided specific feedback. Your input will helpus make improvements to our process. I look forward to greater participation infuture years as we continue to improve the votingexperience and raise awareness of this votingprocess.
