During a ride in a taxicab, the rider touched the driver on the shoulder to ask him a question.

Upon the touch, the cab driver flinched, screamed, then went into a panic and almost wrecked the cab. Finally the driver got control and pulled to the side of road.

Page 18: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Still shaking, he turned to his rider and apologized. He said, "Sorry about that. This is my first day as a cab driver.

22 He (Jacob) got up that night, took his two wives, his two slave-girls, and his eleven children, and forded the Yabok. 23 He took them and sent them across the stream, then sent his possessions across;

Gen. 32:22 - end of chapt.

Page 67: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

24 and Ya'akov was left alone. Then some man wrestled with him until daybreak. 25 When he saw that he did not defeat Ya'akov, he struck Ya'akov's hip socket, so that his hip was dislocated while wrestling with him.

Gen. 32:22 - end of chapt.

Page 68: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

26 The man said, "Let me go, because it's daybreak." But Ya'akov replied, "I won't let you go unless you bless me." 27 The man asked, "What is your name?" and he answered, "Ya'akov."

Gen. 32:22 - end of chapt.

Page 69: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

28 Then the man said, "From now on, you will no longer be called Ya'akov, but Isra'el; because you have shown your strength to both God and men and have prevailed."

Gen. 32:22 - end of chapt.

Page 70: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

29 Ya'akov asked him, "Please tell me your name." But he answered, "Why are you asking about my name?" and blessed him there. 30 Ya'akov called the place P'ni-El [face of God], "Because I have seen God face to face, yet my life is spared."

Gen. 32:22 - end of chapt.

Page 71: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

31 As the sun rose upon him he went on past P'ni-El, limping at the hip. 32 This is why, to this day, the people of Isra'el do not eat the thigh muscle that passes along the hip socket - because the man struck Ya'akov's hip at its socket. (Baruch HaShem)

Page 72: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

1 This is the vision of 'Ovadyah. Here is what Adonai ELOHIM says about Edom. As a messenger was being sent among the nations saying, "Come on, let's attack her," we heard a message from ADONAI: 2 "I am making you the least of all nations, you will be beneath contempt.

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 73: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

3 Your proud heart has deceived you, you whose homes are caves in the cliffs, who live on the heights and say to yourselves, 'Who can bring me down to the ground?' 4 If you make your nest as high as an eagle's, even if you place it among the stars, I will bring you down from there." says ADONAI.

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 74: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

5 If thieves were to come to you, or if robbers by night (Oh, how destroyed you are!), wouldn't they stop when they'd stolen enough? If grape-pickers came to you, Wouldn't they leave some grapes for gleaning?

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 75: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

6 But see how 'Esav has been looted, their secret treasures searched out! 7 Your allies went with you only to the border, those at peace with you deceived and defeated you, those who ate your food set a trap for you, and you couldn't discern it. 8 "When that Day comes," says ADONAI, "won't I destroy all the wise men of Edom and leave no discernment on Mount 'Esav?

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 76: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

9 Your warriors, Teman, will be so distraught that everyone on Mount 'Esav will be slaughtered. 10 For the violence done to your kinsman Ya'akov, shame will cover you; and you will be forever cut off. 11 On that day you stood aside, while strangers carried off his treasure, and foreigners entered his gates to cast lots for Yerushalayim - you were no different from them.

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 77: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

12 You shouldn't have gloated over your kinsman on their day of disaster or rejoiced over the people of Y'hudah on their day of destruction. You shouldn't have spoken arrogantly on a day of trouble

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 78: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

13 or entered the gate of my people on their day of calamity - no, you shouldn't have gloated over their suffering on their day of calamity or laid hands on their treasure on their day of calamity. 14 You shouldn't have stood at the crossroads to cut down their fugitives or handed over their survivors on a day of trouble."

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 79: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

15 For the Day of ADONAI is near for all nations; as you did, it will be done to you; your dealings will come back on your own head. 16 For just as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so will all the nations drink in turn; yes, they will drink and gulp it down and be as if they had never existed.

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 80: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

17 But on Mount Tziyon there will be a holy remnant who will escape, and the house of Ya'akov will repossess their rightful inheritance. 18 The house of Ya'akov will be a fire and the house of Yosef a flame, setting aflame and consuming the stubble which is the house of 'Esav. None of the house of 'Esav will remain, for ADONAI has spoken.

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 81: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

19 Those in the Negev will repossess the mountain of 'Esav, and those in the Sh'felah the land of the P'lishtim; they will repossess the field of Efrayim and the field of Shomron, and Binyamin will occupy Gil'ad.

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 82: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

20 Those from this army of the people of Isra'el exiled among the Kena'anim as far away as Tzarfat, and the exiles from Yerushalayim in S'farad, will repossess the cities in the Negev. 21 Then the victorious will ascend Mount Tziyon to rule over Mount 'Esav, but the kingship will belong to ADONAI. (Baruch HaShem)

Obadiah 1:1-21

Page 83: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

36 Then Yeshua went with his talmidim to a place called Gat-Sh'manim and said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." 37 He took with him Kefa and Zavdai's two sons. Grief and anguish came over him,

Matt 26:36-46

Page 84: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

38 and he said to them, "My heart is so filled with sadness that I could die! Remain here and stay awake with me." 39 Going on a little farther, he fell on his face, praying, "My Father, if possible, let this cup pass from me! Yet -- not what I want, but what you want!"

Matt 26:36-46

Page 85: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

40 He returned to the talmidim and found them sleeping. He said to Kefa, "Were you so weak that you couldn't stay awake with me for even an hour? 41 Stay awake, and pray that you will not be put to the test -- the spirit indeed is eager, but human nature is weak."

Matt 26:36-46

Page 86: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

42 A second time he went off and prayed. "My Father, if this cup cannot pass away unless I drink it, let what you want be done." 43 Again he returned and found them sleeping, their eyes were so heavy. 44 Leaving them again, he went off and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

Matt 26:36-46

Page 87: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

45 Then he came to the talmidim and said, "For now, go on sleeping, take your rest. . . . Look! The time has come for the Son of Man to be betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Get up! Let's go! Here comes my betrayer!" (Baruch HaShem)

A Collage of Customs! Part 2

By Rabbi Stanley

Page 92: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

So today we’re going to look at the Mitzvah of Kashrute, keeping kosher. (Joann and Chuck speak)Before we get into it let’s talk about how we should approach Jewish customs and Mitzvahs.

Page 93: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

As Messianics we often follow Jewish customs that aren’t directly related to the Scriptures. Take the kippa for example.

Page 94: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

We men wear the kippa to show solidarity with Israel and to identify with the Jewish people as well as to show respect by keeping our heads covered before a Holy G-d. Does a man HAVE to wear a kippa?

Page 95: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

If they’re in leadership here, yes they do. But otherwise they don’t HAVE to. But here’s the problem with this kind of thinking of HAVE to.

Page 96: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Once it becomes a matter of HAVE to, then you’re already missing the point. There are blessings that come with many of these mitzvahs. G-d given blessings! for example..

Page 97: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

As I wear the kippa, it opens many opportunities to where I can share with other people about my faith. It makes a statement in this valley that there are Jews here and that in itself causes people to think about faith.

Page 98: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Yeshua wore a head covering as well. All Jews did. So it’s obviously not wrong to do or Yeshua wouldn’t have done it. Do I HAVE to wear a kippa? I don’t think in those terms. I say I GET to wear a kippa. It is an honor, it is a privilege.

Page 99: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Let’s look at the Amidah now. It is a commandment from G-d for men to do the Amidah. It says this exactly… (slide) 9 You, therefore, pray like this: `Our Father in heaven….

Page 100: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

It doesn’t say “if you want to pray like this, go ahead”. No! You pray like this. So the Amidah is hands down a commandment from Yeshua. What about the times? 9 and 3

Page 101: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

for something as important as prayer, you can bet if the Jews weren’t doing it right, he’d have said so, He’d have corrected them! As I showed a couple weeks ago, the New Testament even gives us the times 9am and 3pm. It gives it to us on a platter.

Page 102: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Now, if you don’t want to do it, that’s your gig. I’m not the Amidah Authority or the Prayer Patrol.

Page 103: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

I’m not going to regulate ANY mitzvahs (unless they can hurt others) in your life and you shouldn’t be trying to regulate anybody else's either except the members in your own immediate household.

Page 104: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Next week we’ll be talking about Christmas. I’m going to be telling you what’s wrong with it. If you still want to celebrate Christmas and as long as you’re not in leadership, that’s your gig

Page 105: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

I’m not going to enforce that you can’t celebrate Christmas. But say you go ahead and you have a Christmas tree and you ask me for council about why your teen age son is out having premarital sex…

Page 106: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Guess what I’m going to say?I’m gonna tell you to get the giant decorated phallus out of your house. If you then try to tell me that Christmas trees are ok, I’m going to stand my ground.

Page 107: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Same goes for ALL the mitzvahs. If you don’t want to do them, that’s up to you.

Page 108: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

But in my view and the view of Torah Light and ALL the Notzereem movement as well as ALL the Torah Observant Messianics out there, they stand in agreement on that.

Page 109: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Same goes for the Amidah. And allow me to let you in on something, if you got that many Born Again Jews agreeing on something. You better take a close look at it.

Page 110: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

How many agree isn’t always the litmus test, but if they do all agree you better present a good detailed outline of why you think it’s wrong and if you start that outline with “well, I just believe…”

Page 111: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Then you’ve already lost the battle. You can’t base theology on “well I just believe”. Or “I feel in my heart”. Show me in Scripture and use good reason.

Page 112: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Because your heart may feel one way and the bother/sister next to you, their heart feels another way. Are you so proud that you think you’re heart is better then all your brothers here? The way we feel is NOT a litmus test!

Page 113: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

So, like I said, the Amidah is a commandment for men. But it isn’t a commandment for women. I said long ago many of the positive commandments (thou shalt do) are not applicable to women.

Page 114: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Yeah they should do the Amidah if they can, they’ll get extra blessings and unless you can tell me that you’ve got more then enough blessings, then you should do the Amidah too.

Page 115: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

It’s no different then lighting the Sabbath candles. Should you do it? Yeah. Is it directly related to the Scriptures? No. But tell me this…

Page 116: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

By a show of hands first how many of you have been lighting the Sabbath candles on Shabbat. Of those very same people how many of you have experienced a blessing from it?

Page 117: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Same with the Amidah for women, you get a blessing for doing it. C’mon, can you really tell me just for the fact of focusing on G-d and talking to Him 2ce a day that it doesn’t give you some kind of fulfillment and draw you closer to HaShem?

Page 118: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Many of you from back when you were in the Church said prayers before you ate. If you’re like me and you eat 10 meals a day, that’s over ½ the Amidah right there. It’s a piece of cake.

Page 119: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

There were Churches I attended that had prayer meetings 3-4 times a week. That’s longer then the Amidah too.

Page 120: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

So, what if someone here doesn’t do the Amidah? Do we criticize them for it? No! We’ve talked about this before.

Page 121: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

That individual may not be doing the Amidah but he/she may be doing 20 other mitzvoth that you aren’t doing. You don’t know.

Page 122: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

One individual may have a Christmas tree in their house this year because their family is new to Messianic Judaism.

Page 123: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

That same individual may feel shame that this phallus is still in their home yet they’re trying to bring their family along as they can.

Page 124: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Are you going to add to their shame? What is this a Church? We’re going to shoot our own wounded? Become exactly what Yeshua warned us NOT to be.

Page 125: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

That person might be dreading that Christmas is coming up and that person maybe worrying that someone from this congregation might come over and see their shame.

Page 126: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Don’t allow the Adversary to use you in such a manner. At the same time, if you do have a Christmas tree in your home this year, don’t go trying to tell your brothers and sisters here that it’s ok to have one.

Page 127: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

I guarantee you, you will find resistance. The best thing you can say to the others here concerning any mitzvah is, “I’m working on it”.

Page 128: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Perhaps you’d have applied that particular mitzvah to your life faster then that person who’s still working on conquering that mitzvah but

Page 129: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

there are other mitzvahs that they were able to do right off the bat and you’re still struggling with that one.

Page 130: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

You may be in complete denial concerning some of your own lack of mitzvahs so beware of the log in your own eye.

Page 131: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

That doesn’t mean you cant say that Christmas trees are wrong. You can speak the truth just don’t use Torah as a beating stick on your brothers and sisters because you may appear very hypocritical to them.

Page 132: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

You may have rejected other mitzvahs that have been taught about here and that individual with the

Page 133: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Christmas tree is looking at you saying, look at all the mitzvahs he or she isn’t keeping. I’m only struggling with one and he’s lost focus on ten. Remember, you’re not the Christmas Concierge.

Page 134: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

I’ll make it simple… we’re Jews! we don’t criticize our brothers and sisters for not keeping certain mitzvahs (provided they’re not mitzvahs that can hurt other people like theft, murder adultery etc)

Page 135: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

And if you’re not keeping certain mitzvoth, there’s no sense in trying to defend your position. Because no one here is going to believe that not keeping Mitzvoth is the way to go. They know it provides a blessing.

Page 136: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

That being said, let’s talk about some more mitzvoth!Kashrute.I’ve taught on bits and pieces concerning Kashrute, lets dig a little deeper now.

Page 137: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

We all know the basics, no pork. It’s horribly bad or your health. Pork eaters are more susceptible to the bird flu! Pig health.com says, (slide) “Pigs are an important host in influenza ecology since they are susceptible to infection from both human and avian influenza (bird flu).”

Page 138: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

It must be understood that the lungs of a pig is very similar to that of a human. Pig lung is a main ingredient in sausage and it’s been found…

Page 139: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

that people who eat sausage are more susceptible to influenza then those who don’t.We know pork is bad. What other animals are not kosher?

Page 140: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Shellfish. That includes lobster, crab, crawfish, clams oysters, shrimp, prawns, sea urchin if you’re dining in Asia. Did you know that… Shellfish are among the most common food allergens.

Page 141: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Go figure. They’re disgusting creatures, they eat the doo doo from all the other fish. They are unclean. Not unclean like a woman during her cycle, that is kodesh (set apart) eating shellfish is unclean, it is filthy.

Page 142: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

It kills me when I hear people say, oh, but they’re delicious. That’s what they think about cats and dogs in Vietnam. The delicious argument shouldn’t work for ya.

Page 143: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

BTW dogs and cats are unkosher, that means you can’t eat them. For those of you watching this taped video in foreign countries, “step away from Fido, you shouldn’t be feeding them dog food to fatten them up”

Page 144: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Horses, camels and lamas are unkosher. Elephants.. Unkosher. What about a giraffe? It’s kosher. Cleft hoof and chews the cud.

Page 145: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Let’s look at the Biblical regulations… (slide) Deut. 14: "You may eat any animal that has a split hoof divided in two and that chews the cud.

Page 146: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) However, of those that chew the cud or that have a split hoof completely divided you may not eat the camel, the rabbit or the coney. Although they chew the cud, they do not have a split hoof;

Page 147: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) they are ceremonially unclean for you. The pig is also unclean; although it has a split hoof, it does not chew the cud. You are not to eat their meat or touch their carcasses."

Page 148: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

“But I work in a restaurant and I have to touch pig for my job”. Just like with any mitzvah, it is a higher mitzvah to provide for your family. But if at all possible, find a way to not have to break His Commandments.

Page 149: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Same for Shabbat, if you have to work on Shabbat, you work but you try your best to find a way not to and G-d will help you with that and may even provide a miracle if you’re serious about obeying His Laws.

Page 150: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Sometimes it’s not possible and it may never be possible. Say you’re in the medical field or a policeman or fireman. That’s when G-d will give you grace.

Page 151: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

He doesn’t grant us grace when we simply choose not to obey Him. That’s never sanctified.

Page 152: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Octopus, eel, not kosher.(slide) Lev 11:9 " 'Of all the creatures living in the water of the seas and the streams, you may eat any that have fins and scales. 10 But all creatures in the seas or streams that do not have.

Page 153: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) fins and scales--whether among all the swarming things or among all the other living creatures in the water--you are to detest. 11 And since you are to detest them, you must not eat their meat and you must detest

Page 154: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) their carcasses. 12 Anything living in the water that does not have fins and scales is to be detestable to you (not mmm, it’s delicious) The longer you keep kosher the more unkosher foods become detestable to you.

Page 155: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Pam, how long have you been keeping Kashrute? How would you like a pork sandwich right now? DETESTABLE. It’s important we find the mind of G-d on things.

Page 156: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 13 " 'These are the birds you are to detest and not eat because they are detestable:

Page 157: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) the eagle, the vulture, the black vulture, 14 the red kite (related to the eagle family), any kind of black kite, 15 any kind of raven, 16 the horned owl, the screech owl, the gull, any kind of hawk,

Page 158: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 17 the little owl, the cormorant (sea ravens), the great owl,

Page 159: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 18 the white owl, the desert owl, the osprey (type of hawk), 19 the stork, any kind of heron, the hoopoe and the bat.

Page 160: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 20 " 'All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you. 21 There are, however, some winged creatures that

Page 161: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) walk on all fours that you may eat: those that have jointed legs for hopping on the ground.

Page 162: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 22 Of these you may eat any kind of locust, katydid, cricket or grasshopper.

Page 163: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 23 But all other winged creatures that have four legs you are to detest.

Page 164: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

So let’s see what else this includes… catfish, snails (escargot), porpoise, sturgeon are questionable. They have fins and scales, but they’re not typical scales.

Page 165: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

The Ramban says it’s not kosher because the scales are embedded. He has a good argument about it.

Page 166: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

I’m 50/50 on it and when we start writing down our own Halacha here we can make a determination of our own for this group. Everyone will have a voice, then we will take it to the Beit Din and vote on it.

Page 167: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

dolphin, whale, scallops, frogs, snake, reptiles, (slide) Lev. 11:29 "'The following are unclean for you among the small creatures that swarm on the ground: the weasel, the mouse, the various kinds of lizards,

Page 168: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 30 the gecko, the crocodile, the skink, the sand-lizard and the chameleon.” pelicans, storks, swans all unkosher.Eggs from non-kosher birds and fish are also non-kosher.

Page 169: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Badgers, rodents are unkosher, no rhinoceros or hippo. No sea cucumbers, No jellyfish, swordfish or turtles or amphibians.

Page 170: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

But are each one of these that I’ve listed actually mentioned in the Bible? No, that’s because the only ones that are mentioned that aren’t covered by description, live in Israel.

Page 171: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Alligators aren’t native to HaAretz, but alligators are crocodilian, so are caiman.

Page 172: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

So this isn’t an exhaustive list of animals but it covers most of them. But let’s now look at the difference between Messianics and Rabbinical Jews concerning Kashrute.

Page 173: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

we agree in the vast majority with Orthodox Judaism as to which animals are kosher and which ones aren’t. But then we begin to differ when it comes to shechitah

Page 174: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Shechitah, what’s that? It’s how the animal is supposed to be slaughtered. Now, it’s not so much a difference that we have between the orthodox and ourselves…

Page 175: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

It’s more of a relaxation that Messianics including myself and Torah Light have at times been forced to adopt.for example, we don’t have a Shochet,

Page 176: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

A Shochet is the person who does the slaughtering in the correct way as described in the Torah and the Talmud. we don’t have one. So, what can we do?

Page 177: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

we do the best we can for now. In India I had more control over the chicken I ate. I knew the butcher and I was able to have translated to him what we wanted. Here in the US, I don’t know any local butchers.

Page 178: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

So, like you, I go to the local grocery store and buy our meat there. for the most part, from what I understand, here in the US they do usually let the blood drain out of the animals.

Page 179: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

I heard that isn’t so true about KfC so I stopped eating there altogether. I was told and I saw a YouTube video where they kill the chickens

Page 180: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

by boiling them alive and even de-feather them while they’re still alive.

Page 181: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

If this is true, that is strictly against Scripture. (slide) In Deut 12 we are told to let the blood run out of the animal 23 Just take care not to eat the blood, for the blood is the life, and you are not to eat the life with the meat.

Page 182: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 24 Don't eat it, but pour it out on the ground like water. 25 Do not eat it, so that things will go well with you and with your children after you, as you do what ADONAI sees as right.

Page 183: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

I believe G-d’s word is true and If you know that the animals blood is in it and you eat it, things wont go as well with your family. There is even stronger verbiage used in LEV 7:26-27

Page 184: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings. Whatsoever soul it be that eateth any manner of blood, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.

Page 185: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Also, an adjustment I recently made and I know many of you here have done so as well. Costco’s lamb is all Halal. That means that it’s been offered to the arch demon of Islam, Allah. In English you say “Allah”

Page 186: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

You can verify that by looking at the stamp they have on their meat which says it’s halal.

Page 187: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Not all of it is stamped, but I’ve talked to some of the people in charge at Costco and they verified that all their lamb is indeed Halal.

Page 188: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) This is again directly against Scripture. Acts 15 says in verse 19 wherefore I judge: not to trouble those who from the nations do turn back to God, 20 but to write to them to abstain from the pollutions of the idols,

Page 189: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) and the whoredom, and the strangled thing; and the blood; (YLT)Pollutions of idols is another way of saying something that is offered to idols such as Halal.

Page 190: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

This is an injunction to anyone who believes in Yeshua including G-d fearers. So all Christians should be following this Law. The Christians claim that all they have to do is keep Acts 15, this passage…

Page 191: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

And yet, very, very few of them even do that. “well, who around here these days offers food to idols???”

Page 192: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

The Thai restaurant right down the street does.when you walk in on the left hand side they have a pretty little shrine made up there with little bowls containing little bits of food from each batch of food they produce for that day!

Page 193: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

It is food directly offered to idols. Now, we have to understand there is a difference between food directly offered to idols

Page 194: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

and a restaurant where the people there are of a different religion.what If the cook is a Muslim? well, if he’s not formally offering that food to a demon, you can eat there.

Page 195: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

what If the owner is a Buddhist? Again, If they are not formally offering the food to a demon, you can eat there.

Page 196: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

“But I saw another restaurant in town and they had a Buddha in there”. It doesn’t count. I’ll tell you why…

Page 197: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

If you were to go by that rule you would have to discount every restaurant unless every person there was Messianic.

Page 198: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Including most Christian ones. You don’t know where the Christian restaurants get their meat from. They don’t care If their lamb is halal, they’re covered by the blood of Jesus, they’re under grace.

Page 199: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

And even in Christian owned restaurants, they’re not all Born Again. I worked in the restaurant business for years, any one of those waiters could be saying evil prayers over the food. we have no idea.

Page 200: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

So the best way to go is If they are formally offering food to idols, such as Halal and restaurants that take bits of the food and sacrifice it on a shrine, then don’t eat there.

Page 201: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Eventually, we will have a full on Messianic community here.we’ll have a butcher, a baker and a candle stick maker.

Page 202: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Many of you are not ready for that though yet. we have Messianics right here who have businesses and many of you aren’t even using them when you could be using them.

Page 203: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

“But I’ve been using my guy for years”. Or “I don’t like that product as much as the other one I use”. Or “It’s clear across town” etc, etc, etc.But how would this look practically?

Page 204: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Say we had an interior decorator and you say, ok, I’ll give him a shot. He draws up the plans for you and his idea is to make your house look like a UfO. well, I don’t want my house to look like a UfO

Page 205: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

what do you do? You want to be faithful with what G-d has given you but there’s no way, he’s changing my house into a UfO. Of course you don’t go through with it, but you gave it a shot.

Page 206: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

That’s all G-d is asking from us. That we give it an honest try.

Page 207: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Tell me I’m wrong about that? If we had a Shochet, a kosher butcher, would you give it an honest try? It would cost a little bit more, that’s true, so what would you do? would you use a Shochet?

Page 208: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

But I can tell you this…If we’re not faithful in using the little business opportunities He’s provided for us in this group, He’s not going to give us more opportunities to squander.

Page 209: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

So, we’re going to be opening the table out in the foyer for anyone here to put out their business cards or brochures and so forth.

Page 210: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

If you have a business, put out your info today or bring it next week. People will see what you put out there every week as they pass by.

Page 211: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

I know some of you are using each others services and I think that’s great. we talked about this subject a while back ago, but we went a little more in depth this time and tied in the Shochet and Kashrute.

Page 212: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) Let’s summarize: 1. None of us are the Christmas Concierge. That doesn’t mean we don’t speak the truth but we also don’t beat it over the heads of our brothers and sisters. Others out there, tell them what you know.

Page 213: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 2. If you do celebrate Christmas this year, don't try to defend it in front of the brothers and sisters here, I know our people, they wont let you get away with it.3. Not keeping G-d's mitzvoth is your deal not mine.

Page 214: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

(slide) 4. Gain the mind of G-d concerning unclean foods and step away from Fido5. Start paying attention to the foods you buy at the grocery store and which restaurants you choose, you may be breaking one of G-d's Holy Laws.6. And lastly… Are YOU ready for a Shochet?

Page 215: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Like I said, next week I’ll be speaking about Christmas. Prepare yourselves, there will be graphic language… because it has to be. Potluck may be difficult at the end… please do not bring any meat balls or other reminiscent food stuffs. It’ll be difficult enough to eat as it is.

Page 216: Temple Sheckles are available in the hallway

Let’s stand for the benediction.
