If you weren’t there we had a chance to find out where some of us started quilting, who introduced us to quilting, and what our favorite kind of quilting was. I challenge you to sit with someone you don’t know to get to know them better or just introduce yourself to someone you haven’t met before. Each member went home with a Holiday fat quarter and a pattern for a stocking. If you wish to participate, bring a finished stocking to the December party filled with a $5 quilting notion to participate in a stocking exchange. A big thank you to Penny B and Linda S for our fun sit and get ready to sew mystery - I’m hoping many of you finished the sewing at home and bring your towels in to the meeting to share. If you wish to donate to the 2019 Quilt Show Boutique, I will collect them. I’m rather partial to pumpkins and so enjoy this time of year. Speaking of the 2019 Quilt Show, I will be co-chairing the boutique with Laura R from Largo Cracker Quilters. That leaves the position of Basket Walk open if anyone is willing. We also need someone to help with advertising and soliciting advertising for our quilt show program and someone to coordinate demonstrations during the show. Please see me if you can help in any of these areas.

(Cont’d President’s message) I’m looking forward to the Brown Bag Challenge Reveal and Review next meeting. It’s been fun going through my quilts and remembering all the people who have given me quilts. I’m bringing them all as they are special. Please bring any you have to share during our show and tell. Don’t forget to bring an appetizer or dessert to share or if you wish, something to quench out thirst. I think it will be another fun meeting. Stay safe! Blessings, Pauline

Community Outreach (Gale Pittman, Chairman)

Hello Ladies,

See the photos below that my friend at the hospital took of how they are using all the beautiful quilts and the hearts we are sending. I am going to make another donation in Nov and will have quite a few to take.

I have been clearing out scraps and making as many quilts as I can which are coming out well. I just bound another 16 over the last 2 weekends. So I can attest that 23 baby quilts does not make any significant difference in my stash. I am going to pause and get some Christmas projects finished before I get on the baby quilt scrap sorting again. I am putting some colors together and thinking it sort of goes together but when you get a few more colors in it looks great. I could definitely use more color theory in my life.

Thank you all that chooses to participate in the charity work. They so appreciate it. And it goes without saying that if you choose not to participate then that is fine, but please be supportive with your words. Charity is part of our purpose as a quilt guild. If you have a charity you would like to work with in addition to the hospital, and you are available to be on the committee, I welcome your ideas and willingness to help. You can submit ideas to me via email please.

Survey 2017 Results (Lori Lewis)

Hello PQs! Thanks to those of you who responded to our 2017 Survey. This information will be used to help your board put together some changes to make our guild better. The survey results report can be found on our website

@ http://procrastinatingquilters.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Survey2017Results.pdf . Have you ever had a moment where you realized something about yourself that is not positive? At first, you don’t really want to believe it or think it’s not that bad. After some of our more recent meetings, I knew things weren’t right. I even wanted to quit the guild due to the negativity and issues that I felt. What kept me in and then to sign up for our guild president next year is that we have some AMAZING members. I have friends in this guild that I have known for years. I actually love this guild. Rather than see us close up because nobody wanted to step up as our leader, I decided to give it one more really big try. Taking on leadership of a guild that I know has issues is somewhat scary. This, my friends, was a brave decision. Brave because I know not everyone is happy. I know we are hurting from the negativity. We need to be kinder to each other. We need to heal and we need to have FUN. This means we need to change. This survey paints a very clear picture of where this guild is today. It shows plainly that we all KNOW what is wrong. We are unkind to each other in meetings, we interrupt people trying to speak, we point fingers and accuse people directly or with insinuations and we have hurt each other. We have even caused enough hurt to people that they have left. If we were not the actual “mean girls”, we also did not stand up for our friends either. I was guilty of that. I was not brave enough to stand up to meanness. I just walked away shell shocked afterwards and felt bad for friends that were treated unkindly. This negatively is all our fault and we ALL need to change this together. This is not about “some people” or “that person” that needs to change….it’s all of us changing together that will make this a better place to gather. There is also a lot of positive information in this survey. You have said what you like about this guild. You shared what parts you enjoy and you have given us some excellent suggestions on changes. ALL the ideas and thoughts are being considered. Not everything can be implemented but I can promise you this….things are going to be very, very different next year. Our current board and our president, Pauline Mallory, have started already. We did not want to wait until January to start changing things up. If you attended our October meeting, you probably felt a difference. We did some activities to get you up and talking to each other. We played with fabric. I saw a lot of smiles and heard laughter. I heard positive comments that people really enjoyed our meeting. This is what we wanted. We wanted you to feel something different at our meetings and we wanted it immediately. So, PQs…expect more changes. Our meetings will be different. Your 2018 board is working hard to make changes and we hope that you all will do your part. Please be kind to each other and to the people that are trying hard to make this guild amazing. Today is a new day and we are deciding that RIGHT NOW is the time to change. Let’s learn from what has happened, take ownership of the part we all played, forgive each other and make changes in our thoughts and behavior towards each other. I believe we are able to make this guild a fun place to gather, share ideas, learn and do good for others. It’s time to BE THE CHANGE we want to see. Your 2018 President Elect, Lori Lewis
