Welcome to the Church of the Redeemer. This church is a place ofChristian worship in the Anglican tradition and therefore, may havecustoms with which you are unfamiliar. Anglicans believe that awedding is first and foremost an act of worship. Parishioners, friends,

and family gather together in witness and support of the bride andbridegroom as they have their covenant blessed by God. In keepingwith the dignity of the wedding as an act of worship, it is requestedthat you not take pictures during the service or throw rice, confetti, orany other material within or around the church. However, you areencouraged to participate in the service in other ways. Throughout the

liturgy there are opportunities to respond, through both word andsong, to this blessed event. All spoken responses are printed in bold

and lyrics are provided when the appropriate response is sung. We arepleased that you were able to come and witness the beginning of

<bride> and <groom>'s Christian journey as husband and wife.

The Gathering Of The Community

The people stand; the wedding party advances down the aisle.

Processional Anthem: <name> ..........................................<composer>

The bride is escorted down the aisle, joining the wedding party. The priest greets the community saying,

Priest   The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God,

and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,be with you all.

People   And also with you.

Priest Dear friends, we have come together in the presence of Godto witness the blessing of the marriage of <bride> and

<groom>, and to rejoice with them.

Marriage is a gift of God and a means of his grace, in which

two people become one flesh. It is God's purpose that as eachperson gives their love to the other; they shall grow togetherand be united in that love, as Christ is united with his church.

The union of two people in heart, body, and mind isintended for their mutual comfort and help, that they mayknow each other with delight and tenderness in acts of love

and that they may be blessed in the procreation, care, andupbringing of children.

In marriage, two people give themselves to each other, to

care for each other in good times and in bad. They are linkedto each other's families, and they begin a new life together in

the community. It is a way of life that all should reverence, and none should lightly undertake.
