Resume Pitfalls • Too wordy and hard to read because if you do this a recruiter will stop
reading your resume because they don’t have time to read a diary of all of
your thoughts. Then they will not learn who you are and your resume will end
up in the special bin.
• Spellin or grammer errors.
• Using the same words over and over and over and over and over and over
• Being too general
Tips to Remember• CONTENT: Must be relevant to the reader
• ACCURACY: Dates, titles, spelling (error free!)
• PRESENTATION: Consistent formatting is key
• RESULTS/IMPACT: Quantify/qualify your results or business impact as much as possible - ($ saved or $ generated, %, #’s)
• TECHNOLOGY: Talk tech to me, they really want to know when you used the tools
• ACTION VERBS: Use a variety of action verbs to begin each bullet
