once a year.• It is watched by over 125 million people• The show started in 1950• It was said to have started for cultural unity,

but was actually started to test the new television lines

• 51 countries participate in eurovision

VOTING AND PERFORMANCE• Countries have judges that score each song,

and cannot score their own country• People vote for their favorite songs• The performers have to perform a song that

has never been released.• The performers often dress in crazy outfits to

get attention, which will get them more votes• Many times the songs are performed in English,

but national identity is still maintained.
