CONFERENCE BACKGROUND

n the event of hijacking and theft, telematics play a crucial role of tracking

down the lost vehicles. Such technologies are widely known as in-vehicle Ielectronics. i.e.)Tracker. With close to 104 million new cars expected to be

on the road by 2025, it is highly recommended that industry must focus on the

expansion of the telematics market and its technologies.

Fast decreasing technology costs are paving the way for a mass-market thus

motorists need to be able to control the amount of driving, reduce

unnecessary travels and also reduce other vehicle costs such as car

insurance, car damage and theft. This is where vehicle Insurance and

telematics cross the line.

Although we are in the early phases of adoption, telematics exists today

throughout the industrials value chain, from manufacturing line equipment to

transportation fleets to production tools in the field.

Recently, the first ever mobile application (vehicle telematics app) system

was introduced to the market. The app will be used to tailor a product on a

level depending on the driver's driving metrics. There is a need for these and

many other similar applications to be available to insurance companies; this

will not only help them measure clients driving behavior but it will also reward

responsible drivers.

The technological potential of telematics continues to increase at astounding

rate for OEMs that are able to quickly recognize how telematics can vastly

enhance their traditional product-based value propositions. Those that adapt

their business / organizational models to deliver against these promises

stand to gain competitive advantage relative to those that are slower to adopt,

including the potential to materially shift market share even in tired and

otherwise mature market segments.

The primary aim of this conference is to confirm that Original Equipment

Manufacturers find it simpler to profile the risks involved and tailor insurance

premiums accordingly. It is against this background that this conference was

organized. It will provide an opportunity for OEMs be able to meet the

technological demands with their in-house systems and processes.
