Gantt Chart Hints Use SDLC stages for some phases.
Use other subdivisions for the remainingphases.
Subdivide each phase into ADCR activity. Identify who will do the work (individuals,
“team”)
Obtain team approval before putting into
action

Network Diagrams A net work diagram is a pattern of interconnected
arrows that represents work to be done. Critical Path method (CPM):
Uses a single time estimate for each activity. The estimate
is the best that can be made using the availableinformation.
Program evaluation review technique (PERT)
Uses three time estimates- an optimistic, a pessimistic, anda most likely.

Network Diagram Techniques
Activities Each activity is labeled with a brief description plus and estimate of the
amount of time that will be required
Nodes The purpose of the node is to provide a unique identification to each of the
activities Serial Processes
Those processes which are performed one after another
Parallel Processes When more than one activity can be performed simultaneously
Dummy Activities Unlabelled activities represented by dotted lines. Do not represent any work
to be done instead connect some of the activities
Critical Path
The critical Path contains no slack, or excess time. Activities not on criticalpath contains slack time, and can be delayed for that time.
Early start and early completion dates and late start and late completiondates
