TRAINING COURSE SCHEDULE

The course is full-me over 4 weeks. Course hours are: Monday, Tuesday and

Wednesday -10 am to 5 pm with one hour for lunch, Thursday and Friday -10 am t

1 pm followed by teaching your 1 hour class during the aernoon. Teaching pracce

starts at 2 pm every Thursday and Friday. When you arrive, you will be given a de-

tailed course metable and your teaching pracce schedule.

The course starts at 9:30 am sharp. Please try to arrive at 9:15 am because you will

have to sign the register and hand in your signed course payment receipts.

Make sure that your passport will have at least 6 months life le on it when you

travel to Argenna. If it doesn't, you will have problems.

Entry visas

European Union, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand pass-

visa to enter Argenna.

If you DO NOT have a passport from a European Union country, the USA, Canada,

Australia or New Zealand then please make sure that you do the following:

Check with your countrys Argennean embassy or consulate to nd out what your

specic entry requirements are to cover the 28 day TESOL TEFL course period.

Before you send a deposit you must check with your nearest Argennean embassy

or consulate as to exactly what you need to do in order to apply for a tourist visa to

enter Argenna.

A round-trip or onward travel cketif you aren't already in Argenna. If you

arrive only with a one-way cket and passport control asks to see your return

cket, they will force you to buy a return cket on the spot. This will be very

expensive. The chances of this happening are unlikely but not impossible so

play it safe.

Laptop computer-Check that it is wireless B/G compable. We give you the

WHAT KIND OF CLOTHES SHOULD I BRING?

There are no specic dress rules when you aend class, but we ask that you respect

your peers and the fact that you are a visitor in another country.

There are specic dress requirements for teaching pracce sessions that conform

with the local working and professional culture. You are expected to dress smart

casual as per the following guidelines.

Women

Shoulders should be covered (blouses with sleeves). No low-cut necklines or very

short skirts. Bare midris must not be visible, even when liing arms up. Open-toed

shoes are acceptable, but no hiking boots, sneakers/trainers or beach sandals.

Men

Long pants/trousers. NO jeans. Short or long-sleeved shirts with a collar (a e is not

required). Loafers or dress shoes are acceptable (no sandals, hiking boots or sneak-

ers/trainers). Long hair should be ed back.

Other wardrobe planning should be based on the seasonal temperatures menonedin the Local Weather Condionssecon shown later in this document. Don't forget

that Argenna is in the southern hemisphere so the seasons are reversed, Decem-

ber is in summer and June is in winter.

SHUTTLE BUS60 TO 90 MINUTES TO DOWNTOWN

Buses are run by Manuel Tienda Lonand cost about 55 Pesos (10 USD). They leave

every thirty minutes from 6:00 am to 00:45 am They are a quick, reliable and cheap

way to get downtown. The buses drop you at the company's central oce on the

corner of Avenida Maderoand Calle San Marn. You will then need to take a taxi

from the bus terminal to your accommodaon.

TAXI60 TO 90 MINUTES TO DOWNTOWN

Go to the ocial taxi stand in front of the exit in the main hall. A ride downtown wi

cost about 120 Pesos and you have to pay up-front. You will then be taken to your

taxi by an ocial. DO NOT go with people who walk up to you and oer you a taxi,they are not licensed and are not insured to take passengers.

LIMO60 TO 90 MINUTES TO DOWNTOWN

EBC can arrange a private car service to pick you up you at the airport and transfer

you directly to your accommodaon, the cost will vary slightly depending on your

nal desnaon but will cost between 120 to 200 Pesos (about 30 to 45 USD).

The TEFL job market in Argenna is always good.

Don't delay looking for a job unl you start running out of your savings. The best

Local transportaon

Central Buenos Aires is a great place to see on foot, but like all capital cies it is

large, so if you want to go further aeld use the public transport.

Public transport in Buenos Aires is safe and ecient, the "Subte"(Subway/

Underground) is the easiest to use. It serves the city centre and northern areas. To

reach the rest of the city or go outside it's best to use the bus service known locally

as the colecvos. There are also plenty of taxis which, surprisingly for a capital

city, are not very expensive. You can easily get to our TEFL course training centre by

public transport. There is also a commuter rail system that services some parts of

Buenos Aires. Tickets are priced on a distance travelled basis, but compared to the

US, Canada, UK etc. the cost is sll very cheap.

Shopping

Buenos Aires has probably the best shopping areas in all of Argenna. There are

many areas containing malls and shopping districts full of dierent types of stores.

Unless you are in a street market where you may be able to haggle prices, the cost

of items in stores is as marked. The main shopping area in Buenos Aires is located o

Florida, a street about 6 blocks away from the training centre.

Beaches and swimming

For the best and cleanest beaches in the area youll have to take a trip to Mar de

Plata. A resort town to the south of Buenos Aires. Air condioned tour buses run

between Buenos Aires and Mar de Plata.

Football/Soccer

Boca Juniorsand River Plateare both premiere league clubs in Argenna. Bothclubs are famous. Boca Juniors play in La Bombonerain the la Boca district. Some

notable players are Carlos Tevez, Fernando Gago and Diego Maradona. River Plate

play in the Monumental stadiumin the fashionable district of Belgrano. Some

notable players are Alfredo di Stefano and Hernan Crespo.

Don't forget that Argenna is in the southern hemisphere so the seasons are re-

versed, December is in the summer and June is in the winter.

Argennians, and of course it depends on where you choose to live. A room in a share

house or apartment in a good neighbourhood costs about 1,200 to 2,000 Pesos a

month. It is fair to say that TEFL teachers are quite well-paid by local standards in Arg

na, which means they can aord a comfortable standard of living.
