Gröninger Cleaning Systems B.V. is the leading specialist in professional (high pressure) cleaning systems and equipment. Together with Willem Holleman, Project Engineer Electric at Gröninger,Teesing visited the new tank cleaning facilities from NTC Tankcleaning BV at its site at the Botlek area. The development of this new cleaning system required Gröninger to “pull out all the stops”, which has led to a state of the art system in the areas of technical improvement, innovation, safety, environmental friendli-ness and cleaning capacity.

The new installation offers six cleaning bays for tank containers, two food cleaning bays, four chemical cleaning bays including two bays with 200 bar cleaning. Besides a large number of steam heating points is offered and the possibility to clean tanks that for instance have been filled with latex or choc-olate. Willem Holleman leads us through the plant to see the components provided by Teesing in action. The control cabinets contain SMC solenoid manifolds with Profinet connection that drive the valves which control the desired cleaning solvents.

Teesing together with SMC supports Willem in his engineering efforts to set up the right configurations for the solenoid manifolds. Since this year Teesing is officially registered as a technical partner of SMC, the sales engineers of Teesing are well-trained and supported through an extended training program.

NTC and Gröninger have made the necessary technical design provisions to be able to perform up to 300 cleanings per day in the future. At this number of cleanings the energy use will be a dominant cost factor. For this reason, energy saving measures have been undertaken where possible, for example through the recovery of heat from wastewater and exhaust from the steam boiler and through equipping all pumps with variable-frequency drives.

The Energy Saving Software from SMC has been specifically developed to provide a basic understanding of air parameters such as air consumption, flow rate, pressure, humidity, etc... in factory environments and to increase energy saving awareness with the associated benefits of cost savings and reduced CO2 emissions.
