2019 Future Links:Pitt Meadows Golf Club is pleased to have been selected to host the 2019 Future Links, driven by Acura Pacific Championship May 9-12. Since the inception of the Future Links Championships in 2000, these events have provided Canada’s elite young golfers with opportunities to expand their golf experience. Competitors have gone on to play in and with the Canadian Junior Boys and Girls Championships, as well as compete at various North American post-secondary institutes and some have gone on to play profes-sionally. Of course, these championships cannot be successful with-out the help and dedication of the membership of the Host Club. If you are interested in volunteering for the event, please fill out the form below.

Super Bowl Party Success:Though the game was a

bit of a dud, the party certainly wasn’t!

Over 100 members and guests visited our club and participated in a massive party with a

buffet dinner and prizes galore. Special thanks to RMI communica-

tions, Iain Campbell and Chris Dowsley for going

above and beyond in helping organize, source and donate prizes and ensuring the event was

successful. We were able to raise over $2200

for the club’s Junior Fund!

Vancouver Golf Expo:Our club attended the Vancouver Golf Expo earlier this month and we were very successful in promoting our intermediate and adult memberships.

It was also great to see so many members attend the show and stop by the booth to say hi. A special thanks to our members that volunteered their time to share our story at the Expo – Susan White, Stan Reid, Dave Brunke, Ed Dempster and Chris Baxter.

Due to the success of the membership promotions last year (81 new members), we are continuing with very similar promotions. We have also updated our member referral incentives. Remember, the best referral is always one from another member so if you know of any like-minded candidates for membership, please let me know!

Course Update:I’m sure we are all looking forward to an excellent season ahead!

Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey at the end of September, it certainly helped in reconfirming some of our most important improvement priorities.

During the winter months we have focused on various initiatives including rebuilding of two bunkers, tree management, drainage and the driving range. The recent snow storms have resulted in us having to postpone some of the additional drainage projects that we were hoping to complete this winter, including work on #10 and #18. In addition, the significant wind storms have resulted in damage to the netting on the east side of the driving range. We are currently working on a solution to repair and or replace the netting. You may have also noticed that we have placed a barrier along the line of #3 tee as a temporary solution to address concerns raised by neighbors regarding members and guests not using the provided washroom facilities.

Over the winter months we have completed numerous projects including: -Replaced the culvert on #2 to help improve water flow and resulting drainage. -Rebuilt #11 and #14 green side bunkers -Driving Range improvements including adding new yardage and flag targets. In addition we have assisted with the rebuilding of the driving range covered area. -Several tree management projects including the removal of 22 trees either for safety or turf health reasons and where necessary raised tree limbs through out the golf course. -Removed rhodos behind first tee and general cleanup in the gardens around the clubhouse. -Completed new garden near 7th tee. -Deep tined and top dressed greens and aprons. -Top dressed fairways and priority rough areas. -Have invested in our mechanical equipment through the purchase and installation of many new parts and components. Some key projects slated for early spring include: -Rebuilding #16 tees and #15 back bunker -Renovating garden areas around 1st tee and putting green -Full course aeration and sanding -Cart path repair -On-boarding (hiring/training) of new staff

You will notice that a lot of these key projects are aimed towards improving the year-round playability of the course – our team looks forward to ensuring that we maintain the best possible course for your enjoyment.

Food & Beverage UpdateWe are looking forward to welcoming the membership back to Four Nine North for an-other great season! This year we are focused on providing quality service and delicious, health conscious and affordable menu items in both the concession and restaurant.

You will notice a few new concession food items, as well as a few changes to the line-up of pre-made sandwiches. We hope that these changes and others to come will improve your grab-and-go food and beverage experience.

We will be re-opening the restaurant and resuming regular hours beginning Friday, March 15th, featuring an updated spring menu and wine list. We hope you will join us to enjoy new food and beverage offerings this spring.

We strive to offer a variety of special events throughout the year for the members to enjoy. The next food and beverage event will be our annual Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 21st. As always members will receive first priority on reservations, we will have more details available soon.

We look forward to hosting you and your guests in the restaurant and at special events throughout the year!
