I. INTRODUCTION

Advanced Computer Techniques (ACT) has been providing consulting servicesto Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) staff in the design ,implementation , and documentation of automated systems for the analysisof data resul ting from research in the Antimalarial Drug Screening ResearchProgram.

During the contractual period covered by this report the fol lowing effortswere enacted:

A. Continued conversion of current biology systems to the CDC 3500.

B. Developing a system to interface Biology and Compound InventorySystems on CDC3500 with Chemical Structures System on IBM 7090/94.

C. Design of new biology system for CDC3500

D. Providing production assistance as required .

II. OBJECTIVES

~A. Continued conversion of Biology Systems from IBM 7090/94 COBOLto ANSI COBOL for CDC3500.

B. New systems designed and implemented as required due to changesin hardware or research laboratory reporting procedures.

C. Design new biol ogy system for CDC3500 using disk storage andmul ti—programming capabilities .

III. ACCOMPLISHMENTS DURING THE YEAR

A. Conversion of current biology systms to new hardware.

1. Utility search programs converted from IBM 7090/94 COBOL toANSI COBOL for the CDC3500.

2. Update programs for following systems converted to ANSI COBOLfor the CDC3500, Rane, Radiation , Thompson, Anti foli c andLiverpool .

B. Developed system to interface Biology and Compound Inventorysystems processed on the CDC3500 wi th Chemical Structures Systemon the IBM 7090/94.

-3-

C. Analysis and design of new biology system for the CDC3500 wasstarted .

D. Maintenance service provided for current biology systems asrequired.

E. Production assistance provided during the year.

IV . CONCLUSIONS

At the end of the contract year, the update and utility search programsfor the following systems were operational at WRAIR: Rane, Radiation ,Thompson, Antifolic and Li verpool . A new interface system was operationalat Fort Lee, Virginia. Analysis and design of new disk oriented bi ologysystem for the CDC3500 was started.
