FUTURE AIR NAVIGATION SERVICES
• Future Air Navigation System(FANS) is a concept that wasdeveloped by the InternationalCivil Aviation Organization(ICAO)
• Implemented of FANS will seefollowing advantages:– Reduced separation between
airplanes
– More efficient route changes
– Satellite communication
– No altitude loss when crossingtracks
– More direct routings
– Reduced user charges for usingthe FANS infrastructure

The MODE-S DATA Link will permit pilot and air
traffic controller access benefits, to the database at
the ground and in the aircraft respectively. This will
be initially used for high-density aircraft routes.

Central -ATFM
• Demand and Capacity balancing through CDM to enhance the traffic flow at six major airports
• 1st phase of C-ATFM will be completed in June 2016
• Strategic , Pre-Tactical and Tactical ATFM and CDM capabilities at six major airports in phase 1.
• Subsequently ATFM will be extended to other airports
• In Phase 2 regional ATFM integration with the Indian C-ATFM envisaged

AIR TRAFFIC FLOW MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM
• AIR TRAFFIC FLOW MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:
• ATFM system provides the optimum arrivalsequence along with the time to lose well inadvance so that pilots can be informed earlyenough to absorb delay en route when demandexceeds capacity. ATFM systems are integratedwith the Airports systems as a means of tacticaltraffic flow management.
AFTM is primary means of ensuring flight punctuality and
efficiency, whilst managing the available capacity
as best as possible. Leads to Fuel saving

GAGAN Introduction
GAGAN is an acronym for GPS Aided Geo Augmented Navigation.
Joint program between Airports Authority of India (AAI) and
Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO)
Implemented Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) using GPS over Indian Airspace.
Aims to provide improved Accuracy, Integrity, Availability and Continuity of Aircraft Navigation, during all phases of flight.
It had three phases:
Technology Demonstration Stage – Completed
Initial Operation Phase - Completed
Final Operation Phase – Completed RNP 0.1 and APV 1.0

GAGAN FOOT PRINTS
Benefits of GAGAN Provide highly accurate positioning and extremely easy to
use
Ground and space-based infrastructure is relatively limited.
Almost any airport can have a precision approach and the cost of implementation is dramatically less.
It allows the aircraft to fly directly from one airport to another thus saving on the fuel and time.
