Technology advances and is increasingly being introduced in our daily lives. Internet, social networking, connectivity and mobile devices lead to an increasingly connected world, which has generated a significant change in the way we interact and communicate. (Walter,2012)
Technological Advances
• Society can gain social confidence from interacting with other people online
• Social networking like everything else online is constantly evolving, society can become more familiar with new and emerging technologies, as well as increase their media literacy through exposure to many different types of online media that are shared by their friends.
• Online communities can be very diverse and expose your you to many new viewpoints, ideas, and opinions that you may not be familiar with
• Keeping in touch with family members that live far away can become much easier through the use of online social networking
• Internet can be accessed almost everywhere, making it extremely easy to access the web or social media.

Benefits Of Social Media
• Teenagers who use social media site show narcissistic tendencies while young adults who frequently use social media sites show more signs of other psychological disorders, including antisocial behaviours, mania and aggressive tendencies.
• Daily overuse of media has a negative effect on the health of all children, preteens and teenagers by making them more prone to anxiety, depression and other psychological disorders, and it also makes them more susceptible to future health problems.

How Technology Causes Social Isolation and Neurosis
The use of Internet and video games since childhood has made the new generations bringing more and better technology, they reach almost instinctively use and manage a broad technological knowledge at an early age.
This phenomenon can be either positive or negative, positive in the sense that the technology has become an input in education, and negative for change generated in the form they have children and teens to build relationships with their peers, as well the high risks involved in exposing as much information on the network.

Positive or Negative ?
Technology can have good and bad influences on children and young people, According to the professional psychologist Francisca Rodriguez, “It is very positive that young people know how to use technology, internet and social networks, they are channels that serve to communicate, but parents have a responsibility to teach their children the proper use of technological tools, use them so they know you and not against it. “
Therefore I believe that parents play a huge role in ensuring social media is used effectively, properly, and most importantly safely in order to avoid issues like mental disorders and depression. They need to encourage their children to still participate in outdoor activities.

Parents Playing A Role
Social Media evolves constantly , however it is important to remember to maintain physical relationships with friends and family in order to maintain healthy.
Being aware of these issues are definitely beneficial because we can set goals by not using social media to distract use when doing school work or when simply at a gathering with friends .
