    It is the combination of Inbound and Outbound OI strstegies

    Open innovators invest a share of their efforts into in-housedevelopment, complement it with knowledge acquisition from themarket, and sell and/or license out their intellectual property (IP) inorder to accumulate more funds for internal R&D and other activities

    Outbound OI strategy encompasses in-house product development andprofits from external exploitation of knowledge

    Inbound OI strategy sees knowledge acquisition as the importantcontribution to the internal innovation process. Firms purchasetechnologies and other knowledge in order to complement owndevelopments, to save resources and costs on in-house R&D, and toshorten the time-to-market
