for the selection of the type of heating facilities in certain spaces,

a number of different aspects are very important. one must, for

instance, take the available space into account, the style of the fur-

nishings and the cosyness of the room. one can select from a large

number of different possibilities at brugman, which perfectly meet

the demands that are made today with regard to an optimal ther-

mal transfer. this brochure from brugman presents an unbelievably

large number of possible choices. with its product range, brugman

has achieved a unique position and throughout the world. on the

following pages you will be presented with an overview of the five

major product lines that have been developed by brugman:

Conditions of guaranteebrugman goods are guaranteed for 10 years against any leakages and for 10 years for the paintwork, when they are used in normal circumstances and for a central heating system with hot water. in case of defects in raw materials or fabrication, recognized by brugman, brugman has the right to decide on repair or replacement.the article has to be sent to us carriage paid, to the exclusion of all labour, transport or relocation costs. brugman isn’t obliged to any compensation, neither for damages on other goods, nor for profits lost. replacement or repair of a radiator, doesn’t extend the guarantee period.the manufacturer preserves the right to alter the technical data of its products without prior notice.

Taking back the radiatorsconditions for the return of undamaged radiators, which are still packaged:1. the radiator type has to be part of the existing brugman programme.2. stock radiators in the colour white ral 9016 are taken back at 85% (this means 15% cancellation costs) of the nett-value on the invoice, € 20 transport costs are charged.3. non stock radiators, this means radiators with another size or connection than the stock radiators, are not taken back, cancellation or credit entry is not possible. delayed

deliveries do not mean that orders can be annulled. luxury accessories are not taken back either!

Attention !radiators are only taken back after a preceding agreement in writing from brugman. don’t send the radiators spontaneously, but wait until a vehicle collects the radiator with a brugman collection note.

Cancellation of orderson receipt of an order especially for non stock items, the orders are immediately taken into production. so the orders can neither be cancelled nor changed.

brugman cannot be held responsible for possible printing errors and modifications of the programme.

BrUGmAN PRODUCT RANGE OVERVIEW

brugman, with a production capacity of ap-

proximately 2 million radiators per year, is one

of the largest radiator manufacturers of eu-

rope, with establishments in the netherlands,

germany, france, denmark and poland.

innovation is an important aspect of every-

thing that brugman does. this is especially

true for the brugman Casual Line. these

highly reliable panel radiators are manufac-

tured in large quantities in a fully automated

plant and under a continuous surveillance

of the production process. both brugman

and wholesalers have a wide assortment of

different sizes and types of this line in stock.

by selecting the standard white (ral 9016)

colour, brugman panel radiators can be deliv-

ered extremely quickly. due to the use of high-

quality steel, including an optimal protective

coating, we grant a 10-year guarantee.

the verti m Piano radiator comes in a ver-

tical design, which is especially suitable for

rooms where only a limited wall space is

available, where high thermal output is re-

quired, or at such locations where a vertical

radiator will provide a decorative touch. that universal and the piano universal radiators have been approved for use in old-age homes, as shown by the projectbureau seniorenlabel certification.

stichting stabu has developed a system for the gen-eration of construction plans, which greatly reduces the number of steps for the construction planner. the products in this catalogue have been integrated in this system.

vabi is an association active in the automation of construction and installation technology. the prices contained in this catalogue have been included in their procedures.

Krijger bv delivers the calculation program bink, which has been designed for the construction and installa-tion sector. the products in our catalogue have been included in their program.

“de zoeksnoek” is a company and product documenta-tion system in which the usable product information can be found in a very practical way.

stabiplan delivers autocad applications for the con-struction industry. all of the products in this catalogue have been included in their applications.

all the products in this catalogue are a suitable for ap-plications in systems that use low- temperature heating (ltH) technology.

en-442 is the new standard for thermal radiation from heat exchangers in buildings. all of the products in this catalogue conform to this standard.

“Het digitale Huis” structures product information from a construction point of view. the "Het digitale Huis" label is therefore a guarantee for professional quality, which is furthermore monitored by independent insti-tutes, such as bna and stabu.

ProDUCTIoN AND QUALITY ASPECTS

Quality specifications

brugman is certified in conformity with iso

9001:2000. our radiators are manufactured

from cold-rolled steel plates of the highest

quality, namely dc01, and the plate thick-

ness amounts to 1.15 mm. brugman panel

radiators are suitable for an operating pres-

sure of up to 8 bar. these radiators are also

suitable for warm water installations, with a

maximum temperature of 110°c.

Production

the panel radiators are manufactured on

4 new, ultramodern and completely auto-

mated production lines, which are under

continuous process surveillance. each radia-

tor is individually pressure tested at the end

of each production line, to make sure that it

does not leak.

Painting, in general

the finishing of the radiators is carried out

in specially designed and environmental

friendly installation. the finish consists of:

Pre-treatment:

before the radiators are processed with a

cataphoresis primer coating, they are thor-

oughly cleaned and pre-treated in a modern

spraying and pre-treatment installation.

after that, an iron phosphate treatment (a) is

applied, which guarantees a good adhesion

of the cataphoresis primer coating.

our panel radiators are manufactured under a continu-ous process surveillance, on four ultramodern, com-pletely automated production lines.

the packaging of all brugman radiators is designed in such a way that damages are prevented. the packaging of the radiators should therefore only be removed after installation!

Page 7: technical_document.pdf

7

Primer coating:

after the pre-treatment, the radiators are

treated with an environmental friendly elec-

trocataphoresis primer (b) and are baked at

190°c.

Powder coating:

in two fully automatic electrostatic powder-

coating installations, the radiators are given

an epoxy-polyester powder coating (c) in a

ral 9016 white colour.

after this, the radiators are baked at a tem-

perature of 195°c.

Advantages:

– minimum coating thickness of 50 µm.

– optimal corrosion resistance.

– a uniform coating that gives an ex-

tremely good cover at the sides, corners

and edges.

– no paint runs at the underside.

– High scratch and impact resistance.

Guarantee:

a 10-year guarantee on manufacturing and

material deficiencies is granted on all panel

radiators, under the condition that they have

been properly stored, installed by trained

technicians and have been used under nor-

mal circumstances.the radiators that come from the production line are degreased, phosphated, rinsed and painted by a cathodic process, whereby the primer coating is hardened at 190°c. after this a finishing coat of epoxy-powder is applied and hardened at 195°c. this gives our radiators a maximum protection and makes them suitable for many years of use. both the pre-treatment and the cathodic primer coating process are very environmental friendly.

Connection of the (Piano-) Universal

Compact radiators

panel radiators in the (piano-) universal

compact range are provided as standard

with 6 connections: 2 on each side and two

on the bottom on the right-hand side. at the

factory, the bottom connections are closed

off with metal caps. in the event that the ra-

diators are connected on the side, the two

metal caps close off the bottom connections

pressure-tight. by removing these metal

caps, the bottom connections can also be

used for installation.

the four connections at the side have an in-

terior thread of 1/2"; the connections at the

(right-hand) bottom of the radiator have a

3/4" exterior thread (eurocone).H

Details of six connection possibilities

universal and piano-universal types are fit-

ted with an integrated valve system in the

radiator, whereby the inlet and the outlet

connections are located at the bottom (3/4”

exterior thread, eurocone). besides these

connection possibilities at the bottom, this

kind of radiator is also provided with 4 con-

nections at the side (1/2” interior thread).

Hanging strips and bottom connection

universal and piano-universal type radiators

are not provided with hanging strips. in this

way, the universal compact radiator can be

reversed, so can optionally be connected at

the lower left or right-hand side of the radia-

tor.

Attention!!!

the distance of the lower connection to the

wall can vary for type 33 in this instance. the

piano-universal radiator is standardly deliv-

ered with a connection at the bottom on the

right-hand side.

(PIANo) UNIvErSAL ComPACT RADIATOR IN DETAIL

Connection possibilities for (Piano-) Uni-

versal Compact radiator

the universal compact radiator can be con-

nected in a traditional manner (see illustra-

tions a, b, c, and d). furthermore, and in

the case of floor pipes, it is possible to con-

nect the pipes directly by means of clamp

fittings to the bottom connections of the

radiator (illus. e). in such a case, the connec-

tion possibility that is shown in illustration d

is no longer possible. whenever the radiator

must be installed in such a way that it can be

closed off, this can be provided advance by

the dealer or can be realised by means of a

closable connection block. a connection

adapter and a number of other accessory

sets can be supplied by the distributor for a

variety of different types.

because the n-factors of the different panel

radiators are in the range of 1.30, the ther-

mal output of radiators from the brugman

Casual Line can be easily converted to devi-

ating temperatures, by using the correction

factors present in the table at the left and

with the formula:

p = pn . f

the following is a simplified example of a

conversion calculation:

the heating requirement for a certain room

amounts to 1500 watt, according to the ther-

mal loss calculation.

the desired temperature ranche is set to

70°c for the inlet temperature, 55°c for the

outlet temperature and 20° for the ambient

temperature in the room.

according to the table at the left, a correc-

tion factor of 1.24 must be applied to these

values.

p = pn • f

= 1500 •1.24

= 1860 watt

in the thermal output tables of this docu-

mentation, and with a temperature ranche

of 70/55/20°c, you can select one or more

panel radiators with a combined total ther-

mal output of approximately 1860 watt.

alternatively: if you wish to convert the ther-

mal output of a radiator, then you must di-

vide the total thermal output by the conver-

sion factor.

INSTALLATIoN AND MAINTENANCE

Installation

the packaging of all brugman radiators is

designed in such a way that damages dur-

ing the transport, storage and installation of

the radiators is prevented, and in principle

the packaging should only be removed after

installation and before the central heating

system is put into operation.

maintenance

the coating of the radiators is resistant to

standard fluid cleaning agents used for

household purposes.

HANGING/ATTACHmENT PEr TyPE oF rADIATor

Standard radiators:

all models of this type are fitted with hang-

ing strips. the location of these strips are

indicated on the packaging. fixing is carried

out by means of the wall brackets type vmb.

in case of fixing at the bottom and the top

of the radiator, adjustable brugman J-type

brackets (type Js) can be used. both wall

brackets are available as an optional acces-

sory.

Compact radiators:

all models of this type are fitted with hang-

ing strips. the location of these strips are

indicated on the packaging. fixing is car-

ried out by means of wall brackets type

vmb. in case of fixing at the bottom and

the top of the radiator, adjustable brugman

J-type brackets (type Ju) can be used. both

wall brackets are available as an optional ac-

cessory.

radiator lengths from 1600 mm, up to and including 2240 mm.

radiator lengths from 2400 mm, up to and including 3040 mm.

Universal Compact radiators:

universal compact radiators are not pro-

vided with hanging strips and can therefore

be reversed. this makes a right-hand or left-

hand connection possible. fixing is carried

out by means of the adjustable brugman

J-brackets type Ju.

Note:

in the case of a left-hand floor connec-

tion with type 33, the distance to the wall

changes.

Piano-Universal Compact radiator

the piano-universal compact radiators are

provided with a flat front panel and a 3/4”

connection at the bottom, on the right-hand

side. for fixing this type of radiator, adjust-

able brugman J-brackets (type Ju) are used.

piano-universal compact radiators are not

provided with hanging strips.

Note: in the case of a left-hand floor con-

nection with type 33, the distance to the

wall changes.

Fixing materials

in the table at the left you will find informa-

tion about the number of brackets that are

required for different radiator lengths.

Brugman vmB brackets with locker

this type of bracket is delivered with a lock-

er facility, which stops lifting of the radiator

once fitted. these brackets are suitable for all

standard and compact radiators. for radia-

tor lengths of 1600 mm we recommended

that 3 brackets are used, and as of a radia-

tor length of 2400 mm 4-brackets should be

used. a single bracket set contains: 2 brack-

ets, 1 locker, 2 plugs (10 mm drill diameter),

2 wood screws, one 1/2” blind plug and one

1/2”drainage plug, which are self-sealing

due to an o-ring.

Note: a deviating bracket size is required for

radiator type 10.

Brugman J-brackets

the brugman J-brackets are available in two

different versions. type Js is suitable for fix-

ing of the standard radiator types, while

the Ju type is suitable for fixing of the com-

pact-4 and (piano-) universal type radiators.

the J-bracket can be adjusted in length by

20 mm, both at the top and at the bottom.

the powder coated top of the J-bracket is

clamped over the welding seam of standard

radiators and fastened there, and in case of

(piano-) universal type radiators over the

top grille. for radiator lengths as of 1600

mm we recommended that 3 brackets are

used, and for radiator length of 2400 mm 4

brackets should be used. a single bracket set

contains: 2 brackets, 2 plugs (10 mm drill di-

ameter), 2 wood screws, one 1/2” blind plug

and one 1/2”drainage plug, which are self-

sealing due to an o-ring.

Standard radiators

brugman standard radiators are

manufactured from profile high-qual-

ity (dc01) steel which has a thickness

of 1.15 mm. the centre-to-centre dis-

tance between water channels is 40 mm.

the surface of the radiators is painted

by means of electro-cataphoresic. dur-

ing this procedure they are degreased

with an alkaline solvent, treated with iron

phosphate and subsequently coated with

an environmentally friendly primer. after

a first hardening process, the radiators are

provided with an epoxy powder-coating,

after which they are baked. the backside

of the standard radiator is provided with

4, 6 or 8 hanging strips (depending on

the length of the unit) that have been

attached by welding. the heat output is

measured in conformity with en-442.

zinc radiators

the radiators of the range ‘zinc radiators’

are zinced separately in a zincery with a

10 µm electrolyte zinc coat. Hereafter

they are passivized through which an

excellent corrosion prevention coat ex-

ists. further the radiators are painted by

the usual procedure, so primed using a

Ktl coat and next painted with a powder

coating.

Available models

the mini is available in three different mod-

els: compact with a top grille and side pan-

els, piano-1 with a top grille, side panels and

a flat panel at the front, and piano-2, which is

the same as piano-1 but has a flat front and

back panel. that mini is available in types 22,

33 and 34. two different heights are avail-

able: 150 mm and 200 mm, which can be

delivered in lengths as of 800, up to and in-

cluding 4000 mm (with the exception of the

piano mini, which is deliverable in a length of

up to a maximum of 3000 mm).

Forced water flow

due to the horizontal water channels, the

mini is designed for forced water flow, so

that thermal output is maximized.

Installation

the mini does not have any hanging strips.

the mini is mounted either on brugman

floor brackets or J-brackets. the correspond-

ing brackets must be ordered separately.

two brackets must be used for lengths of up

to and including 1400 mm, 3-brackets must

be used as of 1500 mm and 4-brackets have

to be used as of 2400 mm.

mini radiators

the brugman Piano-mini radiators are provided with a top grille,

lamellas that are positioned in a lengthwise direction, side panels,

and a flat front and back panel. this radiator also provides six uni-

versal connection possibilities. exactly as with other brugman radia-

tors, the piano-mini is manufactured from high-quality (dc01) profile

steel which has a thickness of 1.15 mm. the piano-mini has horizontal

water channels and is designed for forced water flow. the radiators

are painted by means of the electro-cataphoresis principle. during

this procedure they are degreased with an alkaline solvent, treated

with iron phosphate and subsequently coated with an environmen-

tal friendly primer. after a first hardening process, the radiators are

provided with an epoxy powder-coating ral 9016, after which they

are baked.

the thermal output is measured in conformity with en-442.

the mini type is not provided with hanging strips at the backside.

CoNNECTIoN PoSSIBILITIES ON CENTRAL HEATING SYSTEMS

Two-pipe connections for designer radia-

tors:

in principle, three different possibilities exist

for two-pipe connections. the first possibil-

ity is a supply and return flow via the con-

nections located at the underside of the ra-

diator, a second possibility is the supply and

return via the connections at the top, and a

third possibility is a diagonal connection.

1) supply and return of hot water at the con-

nections located at the underside of the

radiator:

all designer radiators are standardly provid-

ed with a flow pipe in the right-hand collec-

tor. important for this connection method

is that the supply connection is correctly

linked to the flow pipe. if the supply of hot

water is planned for the left-hand side of the

radiator, then the flow pipe must be relo-

cated from the right-hand connection to the

bottom left-hand connection.

one-point connections for designer ra-

diators

brugman designer radiators are standardly

fitted with single- and two-point connec-

tions, which are suitable both for single pipe

and double pipe systems. single connection

point systems can be realised in combina-

tion with a single-point control valve, which

can be delivered by the wholesaler. in case

of a single connection-point installation, the

pre-mounted supply pipe must be removed

before a single-point control valve can be at-

tached. the single-point control valve must

be provided with a supply pipe that has a

minimum length of 400 mm. furthermore,

the valve must be installed in such a way that

the hot water supply flows into the radiator

by way of this supply pipe. the single-point

valve can be installed both in the left-hand

and in the right-hand collector.

2) Hot water supply and return at the top

side of the radiator:

all designer radiators are standardly pro-

vided with a flow pipe in the right-hand

collector. in this case, the flow pipe must

be relocated from the bottom right-hand

connection and connected either at the

right-hand or left-hand connection at the

top. important in this connection method is

it that the return must be connected to the

flow pipe.

3) diagonal connection:

all designer radiators are standardly pro-

vided with a flow pipe (*) in the right-hand

collector. since a flow pipe does not have to

be used in the case of a diagonal connection,

this pipe must be removed. in the case of a

diagonal connection, the supply of hot wa-

ter must always be connected at the top side

of the radiator.

Connection for combined use (both elec-

trical and a central heating installation):

caution! in the case of electrical and combi-

nation installations, the pre-mounted flow

pipe must always be removed.

Connection for 100% electrical use:

attention! for electrical connections the

pre-mounted flow pipe must always be re-

moved. for 100% electrical use, the radia-

tor should be filled with water up to 95% at

maximum.

* = t-joint

connection with electrical heating element for com-bined operation.

1) two-pipe connection:

the electrical heating element, the hot

water supply pipe and the radiator shut-

off valve are installed according to the

supplied diagram in the optionally of

obtainable t-joint, which is screwed into

one of the two collectors, while the re-

turn connector is screwed into the other

collector. the connection dimensions

change when an electrical heating ele-

ment is used (see r = intermediate size

for connections).

2) single-point connection:

a single-point valve with a flow pipe is

installed according to the instructions,

either on the left-hand or on the right-

hand collector of the radiator. the elec-

trical heating element is installed in the

other collector. an unhindered expan-

sion to the expansion tank of the central

heating system must be guaranteed by

way of the drainage pipe, when the shut-

off valve of the radiator is closed, for in-

stance in the summer.

this information is based on a standardised installation in accord-

ance with en-442. pressure loss by way of those shut-off valves has

not been taken into account.

Calculation example

assumption: one brugman ibiza,

H 1714 and b 600, pn = 970 watt

ta = 75 °c, tr = 65 °c, tl = 20 °c

qm = (p x 3600)/(4200 x dt)

--> qm = (970 x 3600)/(4200 x 10) = 83 [kg/h]

after consultation of the charts it appears that:

pressure loss = 800 pa.

THE CLASSIC LINE

Column and window radiators in a variety

of dimensions and models are manufactured

by brugman in a state-of-the-art factory.

these radiators are tailor-made to the speci-

fications of the client and in conformity with

the din standard. protective coating provide

optimal protection to this high-quality steel

product, which makes it possible for brug-

man to offer a 10-year guarantee on these

products.

column radiators are characterised by a high

thermal radiation by means of convection.

this makes column radiators ideal for appli-

cation in large, high rooms and with window

fronts. column radiators are also suitable for

installation behind wood panelling. due to

the trend towards nostalgic design, column

radiators are definitely in place in a modern

interior.

window radiators are an especially high-

quality product among sectional radiators.

they were especially designed for glass

facades, such as in utility spaces and apart-

ments. these are characterised by an open

structure, whereby generous amounts of

light can penetrate into the interior. further-

more, window radiators are also used at lo-

cations, where high hygienic standards are

required.

52

ProDUCTIoN AND QUALITy ASPECTS

Quality specifications

brugman is certified in conformity with iso

9001:2000. our radiators are manufactured

from high-quality steel plates, namely dc01,

and the plate thickness amounts to 1.15 mm.

brugman guarantees an operating pressure

of up to 5 bar for each column radiator. these

radiators are also suitable for warm water in-

stallations, with a maximum temperature of

110°c.

Production

the brugman column radiators are manufac-

tured on ultramodern and completely auto-

mated production lines, which are linked to

a fully automatic powder coating line.

Painting, in general

the finishing of the radiators is carried out in

an especially designed and environmental

friendly installation. the finish consists of:

Pre-treatment:

before the radiators are foreseen with a cata-

phoresis primer coating, they are thoroughly

cleaned and pre-treated in a modern spray-

ing and pre-treatment installation. after this,

a treatment with iron phosphate is carried

out, which guarantees a good adhesion of

the cataphoresis primer.

after the pre-treatment, the radiators are

given a coat of primer by means of the elec-

tro-cataphoresis process, after which they

are baked at a temperature of 190°c.

Powder coating:

in two fully automatic electrostatic powder

coating installations, the radiators are fore-

seen with an epoxy-polyester powder coating

in a ral 9016 white colour. after this, the radia-

tors are baked at a temperature of 195°c.

Advantages:

– minimum layer thickness of 50 µm.

– optimal corrosion resistance.

– a uniform coating that provides an ex-

tremely good cover at the sides, corners

and edges.

– no paint pearls at the underside.

– High scratch and impact resistance.

Guarantee:

after delivery, a 10-year guarantee on manu-

facturing and material deficiencies is grant-

ed on all radiators, under the condition that

they have been properly stored, installed by

trained technicians and have been used un-

der normal circumstances.

connections with pipe joints, which are made

by the installer, are always at his own risk!

THErmAL oUTPUT AT DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES

because the n-factors of the different col-

umn radiators lie in the range of 1.26, the

thermal output of radiators from the brug-

man Classic Line can be easily converted to

deviating temperatures, by using the correc-

tion factors present in the table at the right

and with the formula: p = pn • f

the following is a simplified example of a

conversion calculation:

the heating requirement for a certain room

amounts to 1500 watt, according to the ther-

mal loss calculation.

the desired temperature ranche is set to

70°c for the inlet temperature, 55°c for the

outlet temperature and 20° for the ambient

temperature in the room.

according to the table at the left, a correc-

tion factor of 1.23 must be applied to these

values.

p = pn • f

= 1500 • 1.23

= 1845 watt

in the thermal output tables of this docu-

mentation, and with a temperature ranche

of 70/55/20°c, you can select one or more

column radiators with a combined total

thermal output of approximately 1845 watt.

Tip! use the free-of-charge selection program on www.brugman.eu

Explanation of the variablesp = standard thermal output according to en-442, at a desired temperature ranche.pn = standard of thermal output according to en-442, at 75/65/20°c.f = correction factor from the table that accompanies the desired temperature ranche.
