It is a multi-functional space which can host all types of national and international sporting, cultural, leisure and business events.

Its versatile layout and built-in partitioning system allow it to host different event formats with a capacity of up to 17,960 people.

24 years after its opening, Palau Sant Jordi is constantly being updated and demonstrating its capacity to adapt to meet the demands of the future.

Opened in Barcelona in 1990, Palau Sant Jordi is a pioneering venue

where anything is possible.

LOADS

FLOOR LEVEL:

Permanent, uniformly distributed loads may not exceed 1000 kg/m2.

Occasional loads may not exceed 5 kg/cm2.

For lorries, loads may not exceed 10 t per axle.

ROOF GIRDERS:

108 hanging points distributed throughout the roof girders, with coloured rings indicating the maximum loads which can be suspended from them. Each hanging point has a built-in scale so that the loads suspended from the roof can be monitored in real time using special software.

There are 89 points with a maximum load of 500 kg and 19 points with a maximum load of 1000 kg.

CATWALK:

The catwalk structure has 175 mobile load points, each of which can support a maximum load of 300 kg. These points are distributed throughout the catwalk, with a greater concentration at the south end where the stage is normally located.


The hall’s sound system is designed to ensure that sound is relayed uniformly to all the tiers and the main floor area.

It is also possible to configure the sound system for different event capacities, blocking the speakers in unused areas to improve the audio quality.

The hall’s lighting system is designed to ensure that all the galleries and the main floor area are uniformly lit.

It is also possible to configure the lighting system for different event capacities, blocking the projectors in unused areas to improve the audio and lighting quality.

The blackout system ensures the main floor is fully blacked out and light entering from outside can be controlled if required.The lighting goes up fast, is adjustable, allows different blackout levels and is configured to the architectural layout of the building.The system complies with fire regulations and applicable legal requirements.

CURTAIN AND GLASS WALLS

The roll-up curtain walls are made of special blackout fabric that complies with fire regulations.

All blackout features are manually operated using cranks or chains.

The doors and top and bottom sections of the curtain walls are strengthened with permanent blackout vinyl.

The roll-up sections are protected by their housing when not in use.

The roof can be configured in four ways.

This manual system allows the circular skylights to be covered using a flexible fabric which is easy to fix and remove.

This manual system allows the ring and corner skylights to be covered using garden-type fabrics measuring from 6,3 to 12,25 m2.

The curtain system can be used to support the different lighting and blackout options and to control spectator capacity in the arena.

Curtains

Simple modular curtains in short sections for easy assembly and removal on fixed steel plates.

The system allows curtains to be drawn aside when spectators enter and leave.

VOMITORIUM, CORRIDOR AND BLOCKING CURTAINS

A system of 5 flame-retardant black curtains suspended from the roof structure allowing the spectator capacity of the arena to be reduced.

• Two 12-m front-facing curtains.• One 22.5-m front-facing curtain. • Two 20-m side curtains over the tiers, which can be turned up to 45 degrees to adapt and

divide the hall, whether the north or south end is used.

Video scoreboards and screens

The arena also features a Mondo video block suspended from the catwalk above the centre of the floor. Features:

• Irregular octagonal shape.• Suspended from four motorised anchors so it can be set to different heights.• Maximum suspension height: 22.2 m above the floor.• Minimum height: floor level.• The 8 screens are set at a fixed 15º angle.• The block comprises four 16 x 9 landscape screens (6.08 m wide by 3.36 m high) which

are mainly used as electronic scoreboards. Their resolution is 608 x 336 pixels..• The 4 portrait screens (1.92 m wide by 3.45 m high) are mainly used for advertising. Their

resolution is 160 x 288 pixels. • The bottom of the block is covered with a stretched cloth. • The screen brightness is 2,000 nits.

The arena offers a range of video technologies which can be used for scoreboards for sporting events or to project images in different formats, as required for each event.

Mondo sports consoles display times, scores and fouls for any sport in video format. These images are displayed on 5 of the hall’s 9 video screens, with character sizes and formats adapted to each sport.

The hall has a 10-metre-high ODECO wall screen to the south end of the floor. Features:

• Height: 10.38 m. • Width: 6.54 m.• LED technology: 5 LEDs per pixel.• Real pixel size: 20 mm.• Real resolution: 512 x 350 pixels.• Virtual resolution: 1024 x 640 pixels.• Supports SDI and HD-SDI.• System integrated with the Mondo video controls.




CONTROL ROOM

The Mondo central screen block and the ODECO wall screen are controlled simultaneously from the control room. Different video programmes can be sent to each screen.

The four secondary screens in the block can display static or dynamic publicity materials.

The four main screens of the central block and the wall screen support the following options:

• Sports scoreboard created using a program supplied by Mondo with data fed from sports consoles.

• HD-SDI, SD-SDI, DVI and RGB video formats and analogue video.• PowerPoint presentations.• Video sources: TDT, DVD, DVCAM, BETACAM.• Linked advertising spot launch system. • Connection to the Palau’s TV network.• Video signals from mobile TV units via three connection points on the floor and the usual

BOX OFFICES

Palau Sant Jordi has a number of box offices located at the arena entrances. The box office service can be contracted by prior agreement on acceptance of the price quoted.

The cloakroom area is located on the third floor of the building. It can be easily reached from the main entrance hall.

ENTRANCES

• The venue has two floor-level entrances (6 m wide by 4.06 m high) at its south/east and south/west ends.

• There are public entrances from the Esplanade to Level 4 of the venue, with the option to set out different routes for different segments of the audience.

• A separate door with its own access route to Level 1 for VIPs, with two parking areas.

Palau Sant Jordi has 3 VIP rooms with private access.

CLUB GAUDÍ, with bar and 225-m2 entertainment area. Equipped with sound technology, projector and projection screen. The hall also has two closed-circuit television screens.CLUB ISOZAKI, with bar and 126-m2 entertainment area. This space is equipped with a closed-circuit television screen.CLUB MONTJUÏC, with bar and 300-m2 entertainment area. This space is equipped with three closed-circuit television screens.

• Four 20,25 m2 dressing rooms (A, B, C, D) and two 7.7-m2 auxiliary rooms (E and F) in the main hall.

Palau Sant Jordi offers several other multi-purpose spaces:

MEDICAL STATION

There is a medical station located backstage in the western end of the arena and another at the western end on the second floor.

The 180-m2 press room is equipped with a public address system, TV and video system.

The advertising banners of Palau Sant Jordi’s sponsors are displayed in the second level of the roof crown.These and Palau Sant Jordi’s institutional banner must be respected during all events held at the venue.The event organiser can display advertising materials where agreed with B:SM.

The venue has a parking area for mobile units. The distance from the office-side pavement to the grassed area is 18.25 m, and it is 21.4 m from access tunnel 6 to the lawn of the VIP area.There are also a number of visitor car parks which are covered or partially covered, with paving and lighting.

3. INSURANCE

a) The promoter will submit the following documentation to the venue’s technical managers:

•Eventprojectseenandsignedbyacompetenttechnicianinthefieldandfinalvenuecertificate.

• Document certifying the stability of the scenery, tiers and any other structuremounted for the event, seen and signed by a competent technician. The maximum established loads must also be signed off.

•Legalauthorisationfortheelectricalinstallation,seenandsignedbyacompetenttechnician and submitted to the partner entities of the relevant public authority or, exceptionally, a certificate of suitability for the electrical installation.

b) The Promoter must submit all the required documents at least one month prior to the event so that B:SM can process the required permit applications to local bodies. B:SM has an activity licence for each of its venues which permits certain usages and capacities The Promoter must respect these.

In the event the Project does not comply with this activity licence, the Promoter must take all necessary steps to ensure that it obtains the licence required for the event.

If the Promoter does not have the required activity licence seven days prior to the date of access to the arena, the contract will be voided due to failure to comply with its terms on the part of the Promoter.

General contract terms.

CONTRACTING

•Acceptanceofpublicnuisanceandsoundpollutionregulations.•Compliancewithalltherequirementsandobligationsarisingfromcurrentlegislationon

the prevention of workplace risks.

B:SM requires the Promoter to take out a policy with a solvent insurance company which covers any damage to the venue, any civil liability claims and a sub-limit per victim for employers’ civil liability. (Royal Decree 112/2010, of 31 August, regulating public spectacles and recreational activities. Articles 80 and 82).

A copy of the aforementioned policy (including proof of payment) must be submitted to B:SM prior to the event.

GUARANTEE

The Promoter will deliver to B:SM, prior to the event, a cash amount as guarantee against any damage which could occur during the event. This guarantee will be returned subject to the Promoter repairing any such damage.




4. TICKETING

The Promoter is aware of and agrees to comply with the maximum capacity for each of the venues subject to the agreement, in accordance with its activity licence.

The Promoter will respect the maximum capacity in accordance with the configuration of the spaces.

The ticket sales systems approved by B:SM are: Codetickets, El Corte Inglés, Entradas.com, Serviticket, Telentrada, Ticketmaster. These are the only systems that are guaranteed to respect maximum capacities, block layouts, seat numbers and entrances.

For events where tickets are sold, B:SM will retain the following number of complimentary tickets per day of the event, based on the initial advertised capacity of the event:

• The Promoter’s publicity and advertising materials and posters must contain the venue’s correct name and image, as per the brand usage manual available from:

www.agendabcn.cat

• The advertising of the venue’s sponsors and partners must be respected: DAMM, VERI, COCA-COLA and EL PERIÓDICO.

• The Promoter may install advertising materials for the event and its sponsors by prior arrangement with B:SM. The prevailing price per m2 will be applied.

•Salesormarketingactivitiesmaybecarriedoutduringtheeventbyprioragreementand the prevailing price at that date will be charged.

• The prevailing rates will be charged for commercial operations involving filming orrecording.

The sale of merchandising products and the bar service for event attendees will be provided by B:SM concession holders.The bar concession holders will be responsible for activities including the distribution of the venue’s official products.

7. SERVICES

B:SM will contract on the Promoter’s behalf security, medical and accommodation services as required in accordance with the event licence and in line with the size of the event. B:SM will also provide the technical services required for the event (sound, light, power supply, etc.) and other services (cleaning, etc.).

9. RESERVATION

The pre-reservation period will open from the date B:SM informs the Promoter that the venue is available and the Promoter agrees to open the pre-reservation process. Once accepted, a right in said Promoter’s favour will exist for the term established in the pre-reservation document.

During this period, B:SM may not offer the dates to a third party (open pre-reservation proceedings) so the dates are available to the Promoter for the event. Nevertheless, these rights are subject to the Promoter meeting, within the period indicated in the pre-reservation document, the following conditions: payment of a deposit (50% of the concession fee plus VAT at the current rate) and returning the signed general contract terms to B:SM.

In the event the Promoter does not meet the conditions within the period stipulated in the pre-reservation document, all rights to use the venue on the dates indicated will be forfeit and B:SM will be free to offer them to another party.

The Promoter may, however, request an extension to the period stipulated in the pre-reservation document, prior to the end of said period. In this event, B:SM reserves the right to authorise an extension to the period and, if it does authorise said extension, the Promoter must pay a €1,000 administration fee.

The venue will be formally reserved for use by the Promoter on payment of the deposit, return of the signed general contract terms and acceptance of the contract, which will be sent to the Promoter in the agreed time period.

The Promoter must sign the contract ceding use of the venue for the agreed event at least fifteen days prior to the event date.

If the Promoter fails to sign the aforementioned contract, B:SM will retain fifty per cent (50%) of the concession fee plus VAT as a penalty for non-compliance.

If tickets are to be sold for the event, they will be put on sale once the reservation process has been formalised.
