Range of use

Remmers Acrylic Cement Varnish is used for coating collection ba-sins and collection rooms in com-pliance with the construction and testing principles for storing liquids that are hazardous to water – No-vember 1982 version – on con-crete, render and screed surfaces in indoor and outdoor areas. Acrylic Cement Varnish can also be used on floor and wall surfaces that are subjected to light me-chanical loads such as Equipment rooms Storage rooms Rooms in basements Acrylic Cement Varnish can also be used for coating grass and corn silos made of concrete (in wall areas). It is suitable for the following medi-ums: Heating oil EL Unused motor and gear oils Praysol 10/34 NP solution Test liquid 28 N solution

Property profile

Coloured, elastic, water dilutable coating for floor and wall surfaces in indoor and outdoor areas sub-jected to light mechanical loads. Colours:

Art. No. 2920 pebble grey Art. No. 2921 silver grey Art. No. 2922 reseda green Structural prerequisites

Settlement and shrinkage cracks in the surrounding walls and the floor slabs of collection basins and col-lection rooms must be prevented through structural measures (e.g. denticulation, reinforcement, an-chors, etc.). A "pressure liquid" load should be assumed.

Movement joints are not permitted in collection room areas. Concrete, render and screed surfaces must be load-bearing and free of miss-ing areas. Interior lying edges must be formed as sealing coves. Render and screed must adhere tightly to the load-bearing building elements or surrounding walls and the slab. These surfaces may not have been finished with a steel trowel; they may only be finished with a wooden tool. Powdering the ce-ment is not permitted. Pipes pass-ing through walls in the area below the maximum possible liquid level are not permissible in collection basins and collection rooms. Ma-sonry work as well as concrete surfaces that do not correspond to the prerequisites stated above

must be covered with a tightly ad-hering cement render. Concrete, render and screed surfaces must be at least 28 days old and dry before they are coated. Valid standards and guidelines concerning the quality of the substrates should be observed. Water loads from behind the coat-ing must be prevented. If ground, seepage or other types of water can penetrate into the masonry work from behind, the masonry work must be appropri-ately waterproofed. In this case, observe: DIN 18 195 Building Wa-terproofing, part 4 “Waterproofing against Ground Damp; Dimension-ing and Execution”. The coating may only be applied if the above stated structural prereq-uisites have been fulfilled, other-wise it cannot fulfil its intended purpose.

Substrate

The substrate must be dry and free of cement laitance, cement skin, loose and friable material, broken out areas and substances with a separating effect (e.g. oil, grease, paraffin, rubber tyre marks, release and curing agents, organic addi-tives, the remains of coatings, etc.). The substrate should neither sand nor dust. In general, surfaces should be pre-treated by lightly sandblasting or roughening the substrate using the Rotec Soft Whirl Jet. If missing areas must be repaired, fill with a fast repair mortar, e.g. Remmers Betofix RM. This coating is not suitable for use on floors with vehicle traffic or standing water or with permanent wet loads. Before the coating is applied, the surface should be assessed and approved by the person that executes the coating.

Working guidelines

Stir Remmers Acrylic Primer and Remmers Acrylic Cement Varnish before using. The minimum ambi-ent and substrate temperature is + 5 °C. Ensure good ventilation while exe-cuting coating work.

The coating system should be allowed to thoroughly dry for at least 7 days with good ventilation, a temperature of 20 °C and max. 65 % relative humidity before it is subjected to weather or assembly work. If necessary, cover for pro-tection but make sure that the ex-change of air – ventilation – is possible.

System construction:

 Collection basins

Priming: Apply undiluted Acrylic Primer evenly over the prepared sub-strate. Application rate: 80 ml/m² Drying time: approx. 24 hours

1st

coat: Apply Acrylic Cement Varnish un-diluted. Application rate: Approx. 250 ml/m². Drying time: approx. 24 hours

2nd

coat: Apply Acrylic Cement Varnish un-diluted Application rate: Approx. 250 ml/m². Drying time: approx. 24 hours

3rd

coat Apply Acrylic Cement Varnish un-diluted Application rate: Approx. 250 ml/m². For concrete grass and corn

silos, the system construc-tion given above applies for wall areas.

Priming is not a necessity but should be carried out if required. For lightly loaded surfaces in

floor and wall areas indoors:

Priming: Dilute Remmers Acrylic Cement Varnish with 20 % water and mix until homogeneous. Apply the di-luted material evenly over the pre-pared substrate. Application rate: 200 ml/m² Drying time: at least 24 hours

Finishing coat:

Apply Acrylic Cement Varnish un-diluted Application rate: approx. 200 ml/m² Tools, cleaning

Brush, paint roller Clean tools with water while the material is still fresh. Packaging, application rate, shelf-life

Packaging:

5 l and 15 l plastic buckets

Application rate:

For collection rooms approx. 750 ml/m² for 3 coats. In indoor areas with light mechani-cal loads, approx. 400 ml/m² for 2 coats.

Shelf-life:

At least 12 months in unopened, original containers stored frost-free. The production date is given on the container.
