    GENERAL

    1. SCOPE!

    This specification covers requirements and tests for 2.5sqmm Control Cable

    1.1kV grade, armoured, multi-core VC insulated and sheathed cables !ith

    improved fire performance, Categor" C2 #$%-&'(, $lame %etardant cables !ith

    reduced halogen evolution and smoke) conforming to *'+ 155#art-*)+1 !ith

    latest amendments and *'* marked as per the details given belo!. The cables

    covered in this standard are suitable for use !here the combination of ambient

    temperature and temperature rise due to load results in conductor temperature not

    e/ceeding 5 degC under normal continuous operation and 10 degC under 'hort

    Circuit condition.

    2. STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS!

    The materials shall conform in all respects to the relevant *ndian*nternational

    'tandards, !ith latest amendments thereof unless other!ise specified herein.

    CLIMATIC AND ISOCERAUNIC CONDITIONS!

    '.1 The climatic conditions at site under !hich the material shall operate 'atisfactor"

    '.2 The material offered shall be suitable for continuous operation at the full rated

    capacit" under the above conditions.

    TECHNICAL REUIREMENTS

    &. COPPER CONDUCTOR

    The conductor shall be made from high conductivit" copper rods compl"ing !ith

    *'+ 014-10 amended up to date. The conductor shall consist of plain annealed

    high conductivit" copper of circular cross section. The conductor shall be as per

    *'+ 14-1 amended up to date. The fle/ibilit" of solid conductor shall be of

    Class-1.

    5. INSULATION

    The insulation shall be of VC compound applied b" e/trusion conforming to the

    requirement of T"pe-C as per *' 541- 1 amended up to date. The nominal

    thickness of the insulation shall be . mm and the tolerance on the thickness of

    insulation shall be as per *'+ 155 #art-1)+ 1 amended up to date. The

    insulation shall be heat resistant for ma/imum rated conductor temperature 5

    deg C intended for cables !ith rated voltages upto ; including 11 volts.

    . INNER SHEATH AND FILLERThe inner sheath and filler shall conform to *'+ 155#art-*)+ 1 amended up to

    date and shall be of Thermoplastic material. The thermoplastic material used shall

    not be harder than VC used for insulation and outer sheath. The material shall be

    chosen to be compatible !ith temperature ratings of the cable and shall have no

    deleterious effect on an" other component of the cable. The thickness of the inner

    sheath shall be as per *'+ 155#art-1)+ 1 amended up to date. The laid up

    cores shall be provided !ith an inner sheath applied either b" e/trusion or b"

    !rapping. *t shall be ensured that the shape is as circular as possible.

    *. ARMOURING

    The ed steel strips.The material for armouring shall be selected as per the calculated diameter belo!

    armouring. ?here the calculated diameter belo! armouring does not e/ceed

    14mm the armour shall consist of galvani>ed round steel !ires. ?here the

    calculated diameter belo! armouring is greater than 14 mm, the armour shall

    consist of either galvani>ed round steel !ires or galvani>ed formed steel !ires

    #strips) and shall compl" !ith the requirements of *'+155#art-1)+1 and

    *'+ 4@5-1 amended up to date.

    $. OUTER SHEATHThe 6uter sheath shall be of VC compound conforming to the requirements of

    T"pe 'T-2 as per *'+ 541-1 !ith latest amendments. The outer sheath shall

    be applied b" e/trusion over the armouring. The outer sheath shall be so applied

    that it fits closel" over armouring. *t should be possible to remove it !ithout

    damage to the inner sheath. The colour of the outer sheath shall be black. The

    thickness of the outer sheath shall not be less than the minimum value specified as

    per table belo!+

    1%. CORE IDENTIFICATION

    Cores shall be identified b" different colouring of VC insulation b" adopting the

    11. TESTS

    The tests on the 1.1kV Control Cable shall be performed in accordance !ith

    *'+155+#art-*)-1, *'+14-1, *'+541-1 ; *'+11-1 amended

    up-to-date as mentioned belo!+
