TECH 50800 Project Change Management Process Improvement

Brief Review of Project Charter At least half of all major IT
system changes are not completed successfully and almost none are
tracked/documented consistently. This problem exists within the IT
Management Team, who coordinate all systems changes Goal of process
is to greatly improve efficiency and cost performance of IT system
changes To significantly reduce IT change inefficiencies and ensure
that 100% of all major IT changes are managed formally The scope of
this process is limited to changes proposed and enacted by the IT
Management Team, beginning with a change proposed by a Manager and
approved/denied by the Director

Data Collection Data collection to this point has been
historical (and ongoing) collection of Process Checksheet
information Change information is not discrete, so Checksheet
record is the best method for collection For future analyses,
Pareto Chart may be the best graphical view into root problems

TECH508 Conclusions Likely eliminate Change Not Completed as
KPIV, as only a few were not completed. Other KPIVs much more
influential Pareto analysis of Process Checksheet quickly reveals
most problematic process failures Biggest areas of concern are
reasons why changes are not completed in a timely fashion and why
they are not completed correctly Further analysis of above two with
respect to Current Process Map should lead into possible
solutions
