We are switching over to Mishkan Hanefesh for our High Holiday prayer book. This is an exciting change for our congregation. It is gender inclusive and modern. Be the first to help us purchase the books that will help keep our worship relevant to our lives. For a $54.00 donation, we will attach a bookplate in both volumes, in honor or in memory of a person or event of your choosing. See our online donation form to memorialize or honor someone in the new books. The deadline to purchase book plates for this year is July 22nd.

July 4th On The Franklin Commons

Each year our Temple has a booth on the Franklin Town commons during the July 4th celebration. This year we will be selling Soft Pretzels, Arnold Palmer’s and raffle tickets for our Lottery Ticket board. This can’t happen WITHOUT YOU! Please go to Sign-up-Genius and sign up for a time slot. It’s a great way to support TEC and get our name into the community.

We are inviting members of the TEC com-munity to lead a Friday night service this July or August 2016 (*see dates below). This is an exciting opportunity for you, an individual member, or team of members, to get your creative juices flowing and tailor a meaning-ful and moving service with your own per-sonal touches. Hebrew knowledge and an excellent singing voice NOT essential. How-

Meet our 2016-2017 Board of Directors

President: Adam Cutler Adam Cutler grew up in Worcester, attended New England College and now works as an account manager at Athena Health. He is an enthusiastic runner, competing most recently in the Star Wars Half Marathon at Disney Land. Adam lives in Franklin and has one daughter, Ilana. He has been an active member of Temple Etz Chaim for 10 years, serving on the Board since 2009. He has steadily followed a leadership track as he starts the second year of his presidency after a successful year for the Temple Etz Chaim community. Adam continues to bring to his role a keen interest in hearing ideas which will foster community growth.

1st Vice President: Andrew Rubenstein Andrew Rubenstein, new to the role of First VP, grew up in Chelmsford and attended the University of Vermont and Suffolk Law School. He currently practices real estate law in Framingham. In his free time, Andrew is interested in scouting. He and his wife, Lynne, and their children, David and Craig, live in Franklin. They have been members of the temple for two years. In addition to his other duties, Andrew has volunteered to chair the Relocation Committee, whose responsibility will be to find a new permanent home for the congregation. Andrew looks forward to his continued involvement on the Board, feeling that his legal background will allow him to provide practical solutions to many issues.

2nd Vice President: Stacy Bushey Stacy Bushey grew up in Bloomfield, CT, attended Colby College and is employed as an Executive Assistant at McKinsey & Company in Boston. In her free time, Stacy enjoys kayaking, photography, going to the beach, reading and walking. She lives in Milford with her husband, Michael, and their children, Mathew and Audrey. The Busheys have been Temple members for 12 years, during which time Stacy has been a member of the Leadership Development and Nominating Committee (and now will be chair), the Youth Commission, and has been an aide in the Religious School Learning Center. With this election she will have served on the Board for 8 years, both as a Director and as Executive Secretary. A frequent attendee at Shabbat services, Stacy is surely best known for the brownies she

bakes for the oneg.

Treasurer: Michael Levine Michael Levine grew up in Brooklyn, NY, where he attended the progressive Shaari Zedek Syna-gogue. He went to Bernard Baruch College (CUNY) and is employed as Director of Financial Busi-ness Systems at Fresenius Medical Care in Waltham. Michael’s hobbies include sports and music. He and his wife Kathy live in Franklin and have two young adult daughters, Marisa and Kari. They have been members of the TEC community for more than 20 years, during which time Michael previously served on the Board and as Treasurer from 2002 – 2005. He has a commitment to the solvency of the congregation, for which he is well known among former and current Board members. He is also well known for his (misguided) enthusiasm for a certain New York baseball team.

Executive Secretary: Margot Rivelis

Margot Rivelis grew up in Andover, attended Lasell Junior College and is employed as a preschool teacher at the Goddard School in Bellingham. She is also the owner of The Printed Page, an invitation design company, and is well known in the congregation for her creative B’nei Mitzvah invitations. As the wife of Michael (an accountant by day and musician by night), Margot wisely lists “music” as a favorite activity. Margot, Michael and their children, Melissa and Sam, live in Franklin. They have been members of the temple for 17 years, during which time Margot has participated on virtually every standing committee, has served as Director, 2nd VP and Co-president of the Board and continues to teach in the religious school. Her ability to engage members in committee participation is well known!

Clerk: Howard Heilweil Howard Heilweil grew up in Niantic, CT, attended Eastern State Connecticut University and is em-ployed by Crum and Foster Insurance. In his free time, he is interested in sports and fitness. How-ard, his wife, Cindy, and children, Sarah and Adam, live in Bellingham and have been TEC members for approximately 6 years. During that time, Howard has participated on the Board as a Director, Clerk, 2nd VP and 1st VP. He has also been active in Brotherhood and has co-chaired the TEC July 4th booth committee.

Director: Wendy Bierman Wendy Bierman grew up in West Orange, NJ and attended Hofstra University in NY. She and her husband, Andy, have recently relocated to Milford and are happy to know that the Borrs, Busheys and Rich family also live in their new town. The Biermans have two grown children, Rachel and Bryan. The family have been TEC members for 18 ½ years. Wendy is probably best known as the former Director of Education at TEC, a position she held for a number of years and in which she developed close relationships with many of the Temple families. She also served as the FROGY advisor. Wendy is currently the Chair of the Youth Commission and is a member of the Nominating Committee. She includes reading, entertaining and traveling among her hobbies.

Director: Jim Buja Jim Buja, new to the Board, lives in Medway with his wife, Rosie. They have three adult children. Jim grew up in Dracut and attended Lowell Technological Institute (now UMass Lowell). He is employed by EMC as a software engineer. He lists gardening, birding and astronomy among his hobbies. Jim and Rosie have been members of the congregation for 2 years. In addition to joining the Board as a director, Jim is currently chair of the Building and Grounds Committee. In this latter role, his motto is “if you need me, I’ll be there!”

Director: Matthew Rice Matthew (Matt) Rice grew up in Rockville, MD and attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, VA. He moved to the Boston area in 1983. Matt works for IBM as an Infrastructure Architect/Consultant, focusing on resiliency planning and data center relocation. He, his wife Kelly and son Ethan live in Medway. In his free time, Matt enjoys being with his family and their dog; he includes biking, running, golf and watching movies as hobbies. The family have been TEC members for 15 years. Although this is Matt’s first position on the Board, he feels that many of the long-standing con-gregants will know him through his son, Ethan, who went through religious school and became a Bar Mitzvah. Matt also attends Shabbat services monthly.

Director: Lee Rich Lee Rich grew up in Spring Valley, NY, attended Rensselear Polytechnical Institute in Troy, NY, and Boston Architectural College. He is employed as an architectural project manager at Drummey Ro-sane Anderson Architects in Waltham. Lee includes guitar playing, singing and dancing among his hobbies. In fact, he and his guitar can often be found on the bimah on Friday evenings, as he helps the Rabbi lead the congregation in worship. Lee lives in Milford with his twins, Hannah and Joel, and is a neighbor of the Busheys. He has been a member of the temple for 5 ½ years, during which time he served on the Building Committee. He is also a member of the adult choir.

Director: Jill Simms Jill Simms grew up in White Meadow Lake, NJ and, later, in south Florida. She attended Emory Uni-versity and Florida Atlantic University for graduate work. Jill is currently employed as “mom” to two very active children. When she has the time, she lists gardening, knitting and scrap-booking, reading and cooking among her favorite activities. Jill and her husband, Tony, live in Franklin with Jesse and Zach. They became temple members in 2009. Since joining, Jill has variously co-managed SPA, served on the Ed Committee, taught grade 6 in the Religious School, served as both Sisterhood VP and President and is now stepping down after a very successful term as Fundraising Chair. On a

personal level, Jill feels that the TEC community is very important to her family.

Director: Lori Beth Towne Lori Beth Towne grew up in Rhode Island, attended Syracuse University and completed her graduate education at George Mason University. Lori Beth is currently a business manager in the gift card de-partment at TJX Companies. She has one son, David. Lori Beth and her husband, Jerry Sawyer, live in Franklin, near the Shulmans and Lipsons. She has been a very involved member of the temple for 18 years, serving on the Board previously as 2nd VP, Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer. Additionally, she has been a member of the Finance Committee, Nominating Committee, Sisterhood, and Fund-raising Committee, served as co-chair of SPA and managed the Scrip fundraising program for a num-ber of years. Despite her many TEC activities, Lori Beth herself notes that she is probably best known for her height (or lack thereof)!
